Camping List

Hello,

Until winter comes and freezing becomes an issue... I leave our trailer packed with everything so she is ready to go except for fresh food and clothing we may need for the specific campout. In the winter I take out everything that might freeze and bring to the house.

I quit planning specific meals beyond the first day. Always wind up doing some sort of potluck with someone...doing something unexpected... I just buy our usual fare and go camping!

We have a "short" list we use for departure. What we forget we either do without, or stop at a store along the way...

Mrs. NorCal Bambi (traveling in S Tardis)
Departure Checklist

· Windows closed
· Roof vents closed
· Table secure
· All doors secured inside/out
· Holding Tank
· Water off/hoses stowed
· Propane off
· Power cords/sewer hose stowed
· Hot water heater valve open during use
· Jack Stands stowed
· Blue drain tank stowed
· Furnace/water heater off
· Refrigerator secure
· Hitch/chain secure
· Propane tanks secure on front
· Step stowed
· Biscotti Vents (rubber biscotti looking thingys to seal the air from our over the oven vent)

Walk around campsite/trailer and double check

Well, you guys....I suppose you will all be coming to our rig to borrow our CAN OPENER. We will be glad to lend it. We might even bring a couple of them.

The pantry

OK, don't laugh, I'm no Martha Stewart but I need a fairly well stocked pantry. I feel I have to explain the "meat substitutes". I'm vegetarian, so fill that part in with your favorite carnivorous fare if you like. Sounds like a lot, but it really isn't since I repackage most of it. I'm prepared to cook nearly anything I pick up along the way as long as I have these things on hand (except road kill, which BTW is legal now in Tennessee!).

One list I like to use is found in the little silver book you log in your airstream travels ,aluminum covers on it ,wally byams get ready to leave list, shows all
the things to do before getting under way.the packing list is really never
complete as we forget things to many times ,try to remember ,and yes the pantry list is of great importance also must have the food we like on board.

Great lists! I have to add another to my list. This weekend the keys were left at the dump station.

Luckily the park is mailing them to us tomorrow. I will go straight to the Hardware store to have a spare set made! Why did I think one set was enough?

Key's in pocket?
Spare set in Suburban?

Let's roll.

Make a list (check it at least twice)

Great ideas in the thread.

When we have a firm schedule for a trip (this weekend was to the Land Yacht Harbor operated by Washington unit 112), we print our grid out of the computer and it goes on the home kitchen counter...conveniently between the back door and the A/S in the driveway.

As either one of us completes a task, it gets checked off.

Then we take it with us, so anything we never added (or just discovered we "Must Have") can be added to the list.
