Hi, once a year we go to one Airstream Rally. We have missed a few, like last year, when we went on a River Cruise. This Rally is special to us. We like the place and the people. Jackson Rancheria is the place. Early this year we took a practice trip to Washington. Then Lee fell and got hurt really bad. It was hard on Lee but she toughed it out and had a good time at Jackson Rancheria.

We usually take two days to get there, but because of Lee's condition, we decided to take three days to get there and three days to get back home. On the way up our first stop was at Seven Feathers Resort. This is a nice place, but a bit expensive for a one nighter and only using water and electricity. But what the hay? Our next stop was at Durango RV in Red Bluff California. We have made this a stop off place for years. Nice place reasonable price, But lousy WIFI.

Finally we made it to Jackson Rancheria. The group rate is still good even though it has been raising lately. On this trip we made way more rest stops than we used to do; This was mostly for Lee, but I needed more stops too.

Hi, These pictures were taken on the way down to Jackson Rancheria at Seven Feathers Resort. This is my neighbor Dave with the red F-150. Here we heard explosions that I thought might be dynamite for construction. Dave thought it might be hunters. At the rear of the property there was a fence with a warning sign stating that there was a shooting range in there. Lee went for a walk and saw some about 12" diameter mushrooms in the camp ground. Knowing, or not knowing if these could kill you, they stayed right where they were.

Hi, I was able to lend a few tips to others and actually had a problem of my own. For some unknown reason my refrigerator stopped working. Now what???? Well there were no lights on the control panel which is 12 Volts. All fuses in the control panel were good. I also tried all of the 120 Volt circuit breakers. These were all OK. [ I did not reset my GFI correctly] Got the books out and found that there are two fuses on the refrigerator circuit board. I got my test light out to test them. The first one that I tested sparked blowing both the fuse and the test light bulb. OOOPs, must have been 120 Volts there. So now I have to dig out my multimeter. The other fuse was 12 Volts and still good. I made a quick list and went to ACE Hardware store. I replaced the fuse that blew and checked what else that I could. No problem found, but still not working. I removed the second box next to the circuit board and there was nothing there to see or do so I put it back. I'm doomed now, I can't fix it here and we are days away from getting home. Taking a break inside of my trailer and all of a sudden my refrigerator is running again, but on gas. I noticed a few 120 Volt items were off and I reset my GFI correctly this time. It's still working.

Hi, besides the Saturday Potluck there were several other little get togethers where people brought over some food or drinks to share. Lee was able to attend most of them. As usual, the Potluck was a huge success. No plans are made, people just bring what they feel like, and yet the amount of main dishes, deserts, salads, and treats were a perfect mix.

Gas in California was high, but we already knew that especially since that is whee we came from before moving to Oregon. I brought my generator just in case we boondock somewhere or if the Northern California electric company shuts the power off. We were told this by the campground employees. We used the generator once at a rest stop where were were going to have lunch and relax for a while. It wasn't really hot outside, but like a car sitting in the Sun it gets hot inside of our trailer. Running the air conditioner was really nice. We also at times use our Microwave oven at rest stops. Glad that i got all of the bugs worked out on my generator system.

We brought way less food with us this time and we still brought most of it back home with us.

Hi, our Rally was for four nights and we left Jackson Rancheria Monday morning. Our friends and neighbors Dave and Dixie are going to take a side trip on their way home. We usually do that too, but this trip was all that Lee could take. As we headed back towards home our first stop would normally be Durango RV in Red Bluff, California. We decided to try another campground in Redding, California. We stayed at JGW campground; Their WIFI worked for Lee. My computer always has had a problem connecting with campground WIFI systems. This time was a no-go. I thought I would just Restore my computer to like new again. It failed and I will have to buy another one before our next trip.

Next was back to Seven Feathers where there is a lot where you can stay for free. We decided to pay for one more night in the campground. After getting a Casino card, we got discounts on the space, dinner, and this morning's breakfast. We should have done this before. Now we are on the final stretch of our drive back home. We hit several rest stops on the way.

Hi, After leaving Seven Feathers, we found this brand new rest stop. Now Oregon already has much nicer rest stops than California, but this one takes the cake. It's beautiful. No big rigs allowed at this rest stop. I parked in the RV parking area and was the only one there the whole time we were there. Inside there are rows of maps and tour books all for free. The lady inside said that you can stay there for free for up to twelve hours and get two hours of WIFI for free. I really like this place. We stopped at three or four more rest stops before we finally made it back to our house.

Other than the mystery refrigerator problem, My trailer, my hitch, my tires, and my truck did quite well on this trip. I never had to change my trailer brake settings for the entire trip. I discovered that my hitch dolly can stay at home. There is no need for it on the road, but it sure makes it easier at home. I also bought a nice Knee Pad that will travel with us. Working on the refrigerator convinced me that I needed one for on the road repairs.

Hi, today I removed the last of the items that I need in my house. Cleaned the refrigerator and organized my storage compartment. A few items were trashed. Due to cold weather coming soon, I winterized my trailer before backing it into it's parking place. With my experience, white lines painted on my RV pad, and my back up camera, my trailer made a perfect landing in one shot. [patting myself on the back] My winterizing consists of draining everything, blowing out everything, and pouring RV antifreeze in the traps. [all four of them] For my toilet, this year there will not be any pink stuff or plain water; I only sprayed silicone on the seal and flapper.

How wonderful it is to read that Lee has recovered well enough to make this yearly trip! Hopefully by next year the recovery will be complete so you two can take us on another random trip.

Hi, THANK YOU. Lee still needs lots of recovery. Odd pains here and there. Days that she feels good and days where she is just run down. Hopefully, next year, we can do the traveling with our trailer that we hoped to do this year.

Been involved with our own issues, but finally got to read your last post. I too am glad Lee got out of town and sad that there is still healing to do. Barb's knee gets stiff when she sits in a car for too long, but the healing continues and we stop more so she can walk around. I think she wants to drive because her legs tend to move more and perhaps get less stiff. it is easy to get impatient with recovery. Looks like Lee has an excellent caretaker.

Hi, Lee is getting better, but still can't ride for long in the truck. Aches and pains still. Although Lee has began to work in her garden and this shows me that she has the will to get back to normal, or as much as possible. Last year we only had two trips. The year before, we took a River Cruise, so our trailer didn't get used at all. For 2020 we hoped to do a few or several smaller trips. Now we are dealing with the virus thing and doing our best to stay at home. This is hard for us. We went for a long drive the other day to Silver Falls and back home. We never stopped and never got out of the truck until we got back home. [maybe 50 or 60 miles] That was all that Lee could take at this time.

Now we are told to stay at home as much as possible because of the virus going around. No cases close to us yet, but that could change overnight. With almost everything closed, there's not much need to go anywhere anyhow. Gas prices are going down. My tanks are almost full, and nowhere to go. With three motor vehicles, I might have enough gas to make it to 2021.

Hi, I decided that it might be safe for me to go out and get a few things done. On a Tuesday, near noon, I thought that there wouldn't be too many people going out. Actually this was supposed to be the first day for people to stay at home. My first stop was at a bank. I never use drive throughs for banks, fast food, or anything else. The bank was locked shut and my only choice was to use the drive through teller. Well it wasn't too confusing for an old person who never uses these things. All I had to do was touch a few buttons, put my ID, credit card, and two checks in the tube. In just a minute or two I got my cards and receipt back, wiped my hands with wipes that we have in all of the vehicles now, and head off to my next destination.

I was the only one in the drive through until I was almost done and then one car was waiting behind me. Now I know how to use the bank's drive through.

Hi, also on the first day of Oregon's stay at home notice, I left the bank and headed to Costco. Everything was different today. It was easy finding a parking space. There was a line of pallets for you to get a cart and follow into the store. Because of the lack of people at this time, I was able to just follow the line into the store. There was a girl wiping the handles of all of the shopping carts near the new entrance. All of their employees were wearing latex gloves. There was plenty of room so you could shop without getting too close to anyone. There seemed to be everything in stock that a week before people were freaking out to buy. I had a simple shopping list. I wanted to get one case of bottled water for Lee if they had any. I found it and didn't see any limit signs, but one would / should be enough for us. The water dispenser on my refrigerator was sticking in the on position so I stopped using it and had to use Lee's water for my coffee and cooking. I did order a replacement part from E-bay. I was buying about six items and heading to the cash registers. There was only one person in line ahead of me and I had a feeling that they still wanted separation, so I waited before going to the conveyor belt. The cashier told me to wait where I was until he called me forward. When he did call me, he said that he could scan everything without removing anything from my cart. I noticed a worker in the next lane cleaning the conveyor belt. They scanned my Costco card while it was in my hand so they never touched it. I tapped my card on the machine to get the four green dots meaning that my card was accepted and waited for my receipt. The cashier pointed to the machine letting me know that I would have to take my own receipt so he would not have to touch it. Now I'm on my way out of the store and the guy checking receipts was holding a clip board so you would just lay your receipt on it and he would mark it with his pen and out you go.

No-one touched anyone or anything. The process was clean and easy. But like I said there was quite a small number of customers in the store at that time.

Hi, I went to buy a few food items that we needed from Winco. Normally this place is quite busy. Parking was no problem today I guess because this was the first day of Oregon's stay home request. Today there was a line to get in the store. It wasn't very long people wise, but fairly long because of everyone trying to keep a safe distance of about six feet. Two guys were controlling the entrance traffic. As people came out they let people go in. This line didn't take very long. In the store everyone was good about keeping a safe distance. Once again I had a relatively small shopping list. I found a register with only one person in front of me and I started to put some things on the conveyor belt. I was stopped and told that I have to wait until the person in front of me was done with everything. After the person's items were all rung up and she paid for them. Then it was my turn to proceed. I put my items on the belt, she scanned them, I paid with my card, she gave me my receipt, and while I bagged my items, the next customer was started. Basically it was very easy once you learn their new safe procedure.

Hi, well the part came in for my refrigerator so I fixed that. Now I can use that water for my coffee and cooking instead of using Lee's bottled water.

I also can spend more time watching the birds in our back yard. Trying to not get bored while staying at home.

They say it's OK to go to the store for food items and to go for a walk if we would like to. I usually walk 2.2 miles a day if it's not raining and Lee walks about one mile per day. I try to be available to walk with Lee when she decides that she wants to go. I want her to be free, but sometimes I feel better if I go with her so nothing bad happens like falling or being knocked down by someone's overly friendly dog.

For some reason that I haven't figured out yet my pictures only post in landscape mode. This didn't happen with my old computer.

Sounds familiar. We took a drive into Utah by back roads with few people. That was our big adventure for yesterday and today we went to a bunch of stores, PO, UPS, gas, and home. Today I was the drivier and Barb went into everywhere. We thought that would lessen exposure. We also got some curb service Thai food from one of our favorite restaurants. Put the food in microwave containers and zapped it to kill any possible virus.

I am sorry Lee is having a struggle getting back to normal. Barb is now doing very well, but still has many months to go healing. We have wives that don’t stop and they certainly don’t like being held back. Maybe we can get some camping during the summer out of town. Tell Lee we are thinking of her (and you too).

Hi, well I'm OK with staying at home for now. I'm not going nuts or anything like that. Time to do some projects that have been waiting for the right time and some that have been waiting for the right weather. Well after repairing my refrigerator I decided that it was time to get out the Steam Mop. Most all of my house is solid Oak flooring. I was able to Steam Mop my entrance, kitchen, dining room, and Livingroom. With not using this machine for a while; I was in my garage looking for a bottle of distilled water. I almost used White Vinegar. I think that might have ruined my machine. Good thing that I read labels before pouring. Anyway my floors came out nice and clean.

Another job that I have been wanting to do is to pressure wash and seal coat my back porch / patio. In the past few days we got the right weather for doing this job. I did have a bottle of pressure washer soap in my garage, but not enough sealer. A trip to Lowes took care of that. I brought my wipes, gloves, and a face mask. In one evening I was able to remove all of the furniture Etc. from the patio area. Yesterday I pressure washed the rear porch / patio. This is like a three step process, but since we have been here for over six years and it was never done, I had to do the process two times. [ Contractor was supposed to seal coat everything when the house was finished, but never did] I also did part of the back yard walkway. Today I rolled two coats of sealer and I plan to do one more coat tomorrow. The rest of the walkway will be done next sometime week. When this is done, I will have pressure washed and sealed everything. Previously, last year or the year before I did my front porch, driveway, and RV pad. This is a lot of work for an old person. I like to do stuff myself; This way I get it done the way I want it. Besides, I don't want to have strangers coming to my house at this time. [Virus thing]

Young Bob, when you get really old, you'll find you are even slower, so get it done now. Half your time will be spent sitting in a chair resting, perhaps posting here. My projects to do are paint guest room (progressing very slowly), put in new TP holder in public bathroom (more work than you might think), retile master shower floor and bench, replace shower doors, retile rest of shower, fix some low spots in driveway, kill as much rabbit brush as possible (if you live in a desert, you'll know the impossibility of totally killing rabbit brush without nuclear weapons) and I don't want to think about it anymore. I need some rest, perhaps a nap. Don't wear yourself out either—you'll probably need some surgery. And, damn it, I wish I could do as much as you just did.

I hope Lee's doing better (so she can help you).
