$25 underpants?
Just bought Merino wool socks at my Army surplus store. I’ve been upgrading camp clothing this spring after learning that cotton isn’t good for camp wear. I‘m surprised to pay $7 for socks ($12 at Sears.) But Merino wool socks feel great. If they hold up well and wash/dry quickly, I’ll be back for more. But my question is, what about this expensive travel underwear? My Army surplus store only has cotton underwear in those snazzy Army and Marine colors, but no nylon travel underwear like you see from Tilley or Ex Officio. My son travels all over the world to dive. He says the expensive travel underwear washes/dries quickly, packs well and feels good. But I’m having a hard time pulling the trigger on $25 underpants. Anyone found less expensive travel underwear outlets?

Oh --- girls pay that much for fancy floss briefs...  Can't vouch for the comfort-factor if worn by the male persuation.

Been using ex-officio since 2004. Without a doubt the best I've ever owned. They last a very long time!

Try Under Armour. It is the best investment in undies you will ever make. I've got 15 pairs @ 19.00 each but damn its worth it. No more soupy arse!

Ditto on the ExOfficio. They're comfortable and quick to dry. Quicker if I'd hang them outside but I don't want them stolen since I travel with only 3 pairs. 
We've been into Smartwool socks for quite a few years. Just haven't figured out how to get past my kids' disdain for shorts & dark socks. Hey! They're not knee-his!!

I used to travel for business and 5 years ago I purchased Icebreaker boxer briefs. I think they were closer to $40 bucks. Today they are still practically new and I've purchased several others in the years sense. Simply put, they are the most comfortable, longest lasting, greatest VALUE I've ever experienced. You can buy a bag of hanes that will last you maybe a year, these things keep going and going.
Quality is worth it.

Smartwool makes ankle height socks. Also many other brand bike socks are wool that length.
Great for low cut shoes and shorts.

Been wearing the ExOfficio boxers for 5 years and won't get any others. I initially bought these as I was travelling and living in 3rd world countries. I wanted something easy to wash in a sink that would dry while I was sleeping or away at meetings (never get your droors laundered in Africa unless you enjoy them ironed & heavily starched).
One of the other posts mentioned durability. While I've added to my inventory over the years, the first pair are still in service with little wear to speak of. Value is high.
Search for sales online and you'll save a few shekels. Probably TMI, but I'm underwear proud. What else can I say.....

Love merino wool and SmartWool socks are wonderful. The footies last a long time but the dress socks do not.
My boys live in Under Armour. Only for them it should be Outer Armour because they row and wear nothing over them in the boats. I just pray that the Lycra holds up and so does their coach.
A few weeks ago a red item got mixed in with my white laundry and I dyed my husband's white Under Armour shorts pink. My son saw them and wanted me to make a pink pair for him. He figured it would make him the envy of the team as he'd be the only guy with pink UA shorts. I guess his red ones are not bold enough.
I scour Sierra Trading Post for merino socks on sale. We bike in them, the boys row in them and they are just great for everyday.
We bought an Ice Breaker undershirt on deep discount for our son but winter has been so mild he hasn't worn it yet.
