Bed in a box

Anyone using/used a bed in the box mattress? Travel park owners have one at the place I'm at- they swear by it. And the reviews online are pretty good too, but I don't really trust the manufacturers website for reviews. Thanks for the opinions!!

I am not sure what is meant by bed in a box but if that is the type of matress that is compressed and rolled up, then yes, we had one in our SOB trailer that we liked very much. Bought it at IKEA.

We bought one for in our Bounder motorhome and love it. So much more comfortable than the one that came with the unit. I believe we got the one with the topper. We were skeptical about ordering off the internet without having the opportunity to try it...but when it came and we installled it we were very pleased with the quality. Will probably consider this for the guest room in our home as well.

Got one two years ago at Kmart... like it very much.
It was the rolled up type.
Took about a week to fully expand.
Would be ideal for a non standard size bed, just cut to fit with a turkey knife

We bought one for our bed at home and have been very happy with it. The trailer has a foam mattress we had made at a local shop, then we put a memory foam topper on it. It works well especially since our trailer mattress' have a curve in them.

That said, the "Bed in a Box" mattress at home is more comfortable.

I'm not a fan of memory foam - I always woke up sleeping in a hot custom molded ditch with no support under me and a sore back. I bought an air bed (like a Sleep Number bed) from www.sleepbetterstore.com and it has made a great improvement in my life. I'm sleeping soundly again and I don't wake up with any pains from sleeping, and in fact I wake up in exactly the same position that I went to sleep in. I made a flat plywood platform to raise the mattress higher and I removed the perimeter foam in the curved corner area and the twin xl mattress fits reasonably well where the AS mattress once was with a pillow stuffed into the gap at the rear wall.

So I called the place and they said with correct dimensions they can make custom mattresses (I.e. the curve on one corner, as mine has that as well)...but wouldnt give me a price without said dimensions. So after Xmas I might have more to tell!

Oops. My apologies. Was referring to the mattress that Crusty alluded to. He said his had a curve but im assuming he is talking about the curve that twin bed trailers have, not the curve that the full bed Safaris have. I have to side with him.... I had to go buy a cool foam pillow because our memory foam topper on the bed has me roasting summer and winter.

We bought the down mattress cover (not a topper, just a cover) for the Bed-in-a-box memory foam mattress and being hot at night is not a problem. Also, they claim the foam is made by BASF in the Carolina's and of a type not as prone to trapping heat in the summer.

I've had a memory foam mattress from them in my home for a while now. I'm getting ready to purchase another one for travel within the next couple of months. . You'll be happy with the purchase.

I find the foam matresses very uncomfortable, since I am pretty heavy. Though I have only slept on two of them. I sink in deep and have a hard time rolling over during the night, then wake up hurting. It's hot in the summer too!

In my trailer I added a 2" foam topper to my original mattress, which I really like. I cut it to fit my curved walls with an electric kitchen knife, using templates I cut from cardboard.

If you have one why wouldn't you shop your local sleep store and support them? You would then get to try them out as well.

Gary.
