Replacement Barrel Chairs
We want to modernize the interior of our unit. I am trying to find a good buy to replace the barrel chairs. The old ones are the pink/gray stripe. (ugh). Did a lot of searching but haven't found a thread on this. Anyone have a source?

We looked at a couple of brands of replacement furniture and could find anything which we liked better than ours (in terms of size and shape).
So we had a friend re-upholster ours in a material we liked.

I wondered if you checked with Airstream ??
It wasn't too long ago I saw something abt those barrel chairs and, was shocked at how inexpensive they were still..
I just can't recall where it was that I saw the info tho..
I did a quick research for Flexsteel and, found this one..
http://www.flexsteel.com/vehicle/1360.shtml
Flexsteel made furnitures for Airstream for many years and, may still be..
I'm sure if you do a search on Google you should be able to find much more info...

Jim, I'm in my third month of searching for a modern updated substitute for the chairs in my 79 motorhome. So far, my favorites were found at Eurway, a retailer that does knockoffs of designer furniture. If I find something, I will post it. Good luck on your search. joe

Jim,
I understand what you're saying..They almost never 'post' anything that extensive on the web but, that doesn't mean that it's not available thru them.Give em a call or better yet take a look at some of the Felxsteel sites..
It's all the same product..Just be sure to surf thru the RV link..Some of the Canadian "slide" Rockers are quite nice..The leather version can be quite pricey..
Also, there is a lot of companies in Ind. that sell left over furnitures from various RV builders as well you could check out. I'll check and see if I can find their website. If you like..
ciao

You may want to consider some of the smaller wall hugger designs offered by Barcolounger. The Abbey and St. Claire models are fairly small but very comfortable rocker/recliners which can be placed quite close to walls. See them here: http://www.blacklion.com/BarcaloungerGallery.asp
They have a cleaver head rest which pop's up when you go into recline mode. If you can be patient, you can order them in a variety of fabrics.
Enjoy!

Thanks for all the info. I have been searching the web and still haven't found what I want. Maybe I will just recover what I have.

I also recovered mine with automotive grade material, and it has held up to two kids and a dog for three and a half years of travel.( photo is pre-cork and berber flooring, and replaced table)

Well, As it happens, my neighbor out here in the woods owns a furniture restoring business. I plow his snow and we are very good friends but I had thought he no longer did upolstery. I was wrong, he still does. I pulled all my chairs and cushions out yesterday and today I took them to his shop. He is going to wholesale all of the fabric and work for me. I guess I got lucky!! He has several employees and needs to keep them busy.
My drivers and co-pilots seats are already leather flex-steel so I will leave them alone. Biggest problem was getting the Lovely Mrs. Cooperhawk to make a decision on the fabric and colors. She finially did.
Now, while the chairs are out, I want to tear out the carpet and put in wood flooring. Any Suggestions? I have been searching the site, but haven't found much on the subject. Maybe someone knows of a thread???

Have you considered cork? There are threads on this topic.

Yes, we did look at cork. The lovely Mrs. Gunner vetoed cork. Don't ask why. We bought Pergo and I will begin installing it today by taking out the old carpet. It is Red Oak and should look fine with our woodwork. I need to get on it as the re-upholstered chairs and cusions should be done soon, and I have a fishing trip planned.
