My last post had some shots of the seating frames. My friend finished all but one of the cushions. She did an AMAZING job. I have to thank Mid Century Modern & Retro Fabrics @ WinterBeachModern.com. They had a great price on the fabric and their service was excellent, really.

The edges of the cushions is the same fabric, only flipped over. I think it adds a nice touch.

I also got the end cap painted with some Krylon textured plastic paint.

It's looking pretty good so far. We are taking it to Willow River State Park near Hudson Wisconsin for the week tomorrow. It will be good to start using the AS instead of just working on it!

Also got most of the bathroom remodel done. Only need to get a shelf under the sink and some sliding doors on the cabinet under the sink.

Hi sfelsheim; Congrats, looks great. We just had ours done in our restored 1973 26' Arg. We got rid of the pull out and changed it to wrap around sofa. Fabric and the cushions were made to fit around the curved walls. If I may ask, what did you pay for everything? We have done our own, now we get to enjoy our fruits of two year work. Now it is your turn as well to enjoy it. Good luck, "Boatdoc"

Love the cushions...they look great, especially the welting on the edges. great idea to use the other side of the fabric!

I want to have some custom slipcovers done for my beloved Aluminotti...While I like my OB interior, I want to have something different for the seating.

Hey Boatdoc,

Well, the foam, after shipping, was over $300. The fabric (26 yards) was about $230. Not sure how much I spent building the seating, maybe $150 (select pine 1x3, two sheets 1/2 plywood and 2 sheets 1/4 plywood).

Not sure what the upholstery work, batting and welting will run yet.

Got back from the first trip with the seating/bathroom done. It went great!! We sat 7 people for dinner very comfortably around the table in the front.

Willow River State Park was a nice destination. Sites where very wooded and private. The park has great trails and a lot of wildlife. My brother's site next to mine had two deer come into his site one morning.

The falls where very pretty. Its hard to tell from the picture, but you can walk behind the largest of the falls. There where people rock climbing and fly fishing (good trout fishing).

The beach was over run with geese, so "watching your step" was important. We decided on a swimming beach for the kids a few miles away on the St. Croix river.

Wow - looks great! What source did you use for the metal swirl panels in the bathroom. Is that laminate? How'd you strip the walls - it looks like it went fast for you?

Are you talking about the item to the left in the photo? I'm thinking that it is a plastic shower curtain.

You are correct. That is the shower curtain. Hard to take pictures of such a small space!

Yes, the counter top and the wall to the left of the sink (as you face it) is laminate (black and white speckled stuff to match the floor).

The walls where painful. I am very glad I did it, and I would do it again, but still painful.

I tried many paint strippers, but the only one that worked well enough for me was a product by Zinsser (see picture)

Put it on nice and thick, and wait about 20 min. Mostly the wall covering comes off in big sheets by just pulling it or helping it along with a wide PLASTIC drywall knife (putty knife). Then clean the walls with Acetone to get the residual glue off.

DON'T WAIT TO REMOVE THE GLUE with the Acetone. If you let it sit over night (or say, a week like I have) its 100 times harder to get off. If you do it right away, it wipes right off.

This is nasty stuff, and literally burns the skin on contact. It also eats plastic lenses on your glasses when it drips on them, even for a second. (don't ask).

As others have said, be sure to cut along seams where the inner skin overlaps. The wall coverings are put on prior skins being put on.

But, if you like the look (and I really do, very clean) don't let any of that stop you.
