will stainless steel patches work on the aluminum exterior?

Can stainless steel be used as patching material on the aluminum skin of our 1960 Tradewind?

Yes, but it will not look very nice.

Scrap aluminum is available all over the place.

I would not. Go to a metal supplier and get some aluminum.

Never do this!

You do Not want to do this as the 2 dissimilar metals will cause a reaction and corrosion will occur between the aluminum skin panel and the patch. Hope this helps. Ed

Yes, aluminum will be better for patches.
Although,,,,in my minds eye, I can envision an AS with an all stainless shell,,highly polished of course,,,lot of weight though.
