what size rivets?

I have a 74 tradewind and I am looking to reinstall the side badges that say "land yacht". What size rivets, long or short, do I need? I can figure out the diameter of the rivet shaft, I just don't know how deep it needs to be.

Thanks,
Cassidy

Longer pop rivets are far better than short pop rivets when your not sure of the depth.

# 48 pops usually work very well.

I used Olympic rivets when I installed my new badge. I put a small dot of Vulkum on each hole under the badge to be sure there was no leaking.

The big question is where did you find your badges? I paid w-a-a-a-a-y too much for mine from someone that was dismantling a wrecked rig. I don't think there is a source for NOS anymore.

Thanks Andy and Digger,

I will get the longer ones. #48s Does having a pivoting riveter, the head changes angles, help?

My badges are the originals, they were just inside the AS, must have fallen off. Sorry, i don't have a lead on cheap original badges.

Thanks,

A pivoting head riveter, has little value for Airstream work.

A good riveter, however, does pay dividends.

I bought a pivoting head riveter when I couldn't find my old fixed head model. Whenever I'm working on the Airstream, I wish I could find it. The pivoting head is just one more difficulty sometimes.

While working on riveting segments together inside my rear dome, I've actually found the pivoting head to be quite beneficial.

But for work on the "straight" walls along the sides, it's not of much benefit, nor for Olympics on the exterior, where there is plenty of room to maneuver.

And I agree, I am so glad I bought a quality rivet tool instead of a cheap one. This one will last me a lifetime.
