How does the insulation on a 25FB airstream hold up on a hot summer days? Does it get very hot inside the trailer?

Airstreams in general have relatively thin walls (~1.5"), single paned windows and aluminum interior and exterior skins linked together with aluminum ribs. So it isn't just a matter of the insulation in the walls, it is all the other design features you have working against you that makes these trailers not-so-well-equipped for extremes of temperature. So yes, if you park one in the sun, it warms up inside, if it sits in the cold of winter, it gets cold inside. They are kept comfortable mostly through brute force., ie a big air conditioner or a stout furnace.

Has anyone drilled small holes in the walls and, using canned foam, filled the walls?

Don't do it. I tried that with the floor of a boat once... That expand-a-foam bulged the floor of the boat up about six inches. I had to cut the floor out, dig out all the foam, and re-fiberglass it. It will bulge your walls like crazy. Also, most of it is open cell, which means that it absorbs water... Another feature not good in boats or Airstreams.

Hi 24brem, you have a good question. As Begeledhel said, our aluminum trailers conduct heat and cold very well. Kinda like aluminum cookware. New Airstreams have a reflective paint on the roof skins that does help. Awnings also help keep the trailer a bit cooler. A good AC helps keep things comfortable.
