Shore power tripping

When I plugged into a standard electrical outlet to run interior lights and ac, it kept tripping the circuit breaker. When I got it home it worked perfectly from my standard outlet. Could I have a grounding problem when parked on concrete? (It is parked in my yard.) Or maybe the outlet was not adequate to handle the load?

Maybe the first outlet was a 15 amp outlet and the second was a 20 amp outlet?

Or maybe the first outlet already had another load on the circuit?

It is very, very, very, very, unlikely that grass or concrete makes a difference.

That was my guess but was stumped.

When you are not connected to a 30 amp shore power source, you are always on the edge of tripping a circuit breaker when running the air conditioner.

It could be the 20 amp vs. 15 amp issue, or it could be the refrigerator and/or the converter cycling on.

In any event, I don't think that parking on grass vs. concrete would have any impact.

When you say Standard Outlet I assume you mean a standar household 3 prong outlet. If so that can be either 15 or 20 amps. In either case that is not enough to run the AC in your trailer unless you take these precautions. Turn off the frig, and the converter. Even doing this it will not work if the receptacle is a 15 amp one and may not work if it is 20 amps and has anything else on that circuit outside the trailer.

You need at least a 30 amp breaker, and correct gauge wire for the distance between the breaker and the coach. NEVER allow your voltages to drop more than 10%. Where you park should have zero effect on the electrical system.
