Running generator on propane

I plan to get a Honda EU200i Companion generator and wonder if there is a supplier who has them already converted to be able to run on propane or, if not, what adapter kit you would recommend? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Conversion to Propane

We travelled to WV and had the 2 Honda 200Is changed over to Tri fuel and had a quick connect installed under the propane tanks on the AS. We use it when the heat gets to us when we are working on the AS in outside storage. It will be an emergency retreat if G_d forbid a hurricane hits us.

Where in WV did you get this done? We'll likely be in Seneca Rocks late August.

US Carburetion Inc

Summersville, WV. We brought the Hondas to them and they customized quick release double connected hoses for the gens to the quick release on the AS. They made right from a previous botched job on a Honda 7500, they changed management and were very good by me and I highly recommend them.

Thumbs up

Also had good results with the Dual use kit from US Carb.
Well worth the up-grade for us.

Having a propane-powered Onan, I sure think it's the way to go!

EU2000i on propane

How long will a 2000i run on a small tank of propane? I know there is alot of variables like load etc, but just curious.

Thanks to all. This thread is of great interest to us as a result of a recent storm/power loss here in the Blue Ridge. I've read the "mixed" results from the Summerville, WV, company. They're not that far away. I'm tempted to visit, and perhaps buy my Yamaha pair directly from them? Anyone have recent experiences with US Carb?

I was trying to remember my experience from Hurricane Irene last year - I went through a bunch of bottles. But - since there is only about 4.6 gals in a 20lb tank, and there are less btus per gallon, I guess that would explain it.

I don't think I got 7 hours from a tank. It got to be so expensive, I switched to gas and got much better run time.

For camping, I really like the cleanliness of propane. But we don't generally camp where we would need to run the ac.

Pat
