Louvered vent

I've replaced the "ice box" in my '56 Bubble with a 12v frig. I need a small aluminum louvered vent to install in the side for ventilation. I've checked West Marine; several RV catalogs and the vents don't look too good. Any suggestions?

If you want to use what the current Airstreams use look for a dometic vent from a bone yard. They should be able to get you one off a wreck for cheap.

Either that or go through the floor. You don't need to cut the skin and can get duct and screen at HD, Lowes.

Doh! I should have remembered that until 75 that is how they pulled the fresh air into most of the trailers. flash it good and you are done, no holes in the skin!

It carried over to the early motorhomes then, that is where mine is. I also like it because it is a nice straight shot up the back of the refrigerator.

vents

Go through the floor - hummm, why didn't I think of that. I'll blame Vulkem fumes. by the way, how long does it take the Vulkem material to "harden" or cure as much as it's going to - we've got a heater going in the trailer trying to speed it up but it's taking quite a while. We used it to fasten in the copper shower pan - hope it's worth the effort. Thanks to all for the tips.

Vulcem should cure in 24-48 hours depending on the temp. Lower temps will cause slower cure rates. When I have used it in exterior applications I try to do so on days when I know I will not get rain for 24 hours. It will retain a soft feel even when 100% cured.
