Is this the factory solar controller?

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out what this relay is in my recently acquired 2005 International 28. It appears to have solar panel wires connected to it (but also positive batt cables to both sides...??), and has a Cat 5 cable running to nowhere (the cable is cut).

Is this a charge regulator and was the Cat 5 cable originally to the display unit? Can I eliminate this if I install another regulator (thinking of an mppt like solar Boost 2000).

Thanks

Smeevis

NOPE! That is your battery disconnect solenoid.

We (at AM Solar) typically wire the solar charge controller's output directly to the batteries. Fewer connections mean less voltage loss!

thanks

Thanks -- I thought I heard it clicking when I threw the batt disconnect switch.

Can you help me with the other part of the question: what is that CAT 5 (blue sheath, 5 small wires connected to the bottom of the solenoid) supposed to connect to? (in my unit, the blue cable is snipped off).
