9 pin plug

My 85 Soverigne has a 9pin plug to the tow veh. Is there a reason for this, can it be modified to a standard 7 pin? Thanx LJH

I am not real knowledgeable so I can not answer that directly, but your manual will tell you what each pin is for?
Do you need a new 9 pin? What seems to be the reason for wanting to change? If I can help I have a local guy that has a 9 pin in his shop, pm me if you need one. I don't get on this everyday so I may not read any responses here. I would like to know what some of the more experienced people have to say about this topic. Good Luck!

The connectors are available. What way do they need to be wired?
