whoo Hooo! I finally took the plunge!
Hi everyone!
just wanted to stop by and say I am the proud new owner of a '64 overlander. I have actually been reading post on here for the last year, gathering information and trying not to make any mistakes if and when I ever had the guts to purchase a vintage airstream.
This site have been amazing! what a wealth of knowledge on here!
All of the information on here helped me..
1. Decide on what size trailer i was looking for
2. Condition of the trailer i was looking for (huge help here)
3. Price
I could go on and on... thank you so much for having a resource like this available. I'm going to NEED it!
This is the family's first trailer and cant wait to make her our own

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I haven't got to spend much time with her as of yet. I have checked electrical( has been rewired) plumbing is going to need some tweeking. Air works,fridge works, heater is going to need repaired. Inside is clean. I will try and get some pictures up of the inside within the next day or 2
Scheduled an appointment for next week to have brakes and all systems looked over by a professional. I'm good at repairs interior wise but not much knowledge on heating and cooling. I'm sure I will get there, just going to take some time.

the forum gave me lots of dire warnings about using my furnace. I pulled it out as one of my first moves, but I'm debating that move now. It was probably for the best.

Yay for you! I'm new too- found my '63 Overlander in July after reading forever the amazing amount of information on this website. I was terrified of making a mistake but the one comment (and I would love to give credit to the author!) that convinced me to finally pull the trigger and follow my dream was this: "anything that has been made by man, can be fixed by man" (or woman!!!) My bad for not been back since I posted a few weeks ago. So far I have taken the trailer into the shop (camping world) to get everything checked out. Gas lines leaked and 2 of the 4 brakes did not work and there were "multiple leaks in the plumbing after a pressure test. Getting brakes fixed as well as the gas leak which was near the hot water heater. I'm thinking I can tackle the plumbing with you guys help.... Please say yes....

Glad you got the brakes fixed,,, better now I bet !
How severe are leaks? It might be best to post in the "plumbing" forum to get quicker answers.

The plumbing seems pretty straight forward... Accept for where the leak is at. Is that a rule? I only saw it leaking from around the back sink/ shower area. The po ran pex so it shouldn't be that hard should it?

I have already learned so much on the fly.... The awning wasn't even set up the right way when I first took the picture. Live and learn.... As long as it mo harm no foul.

Pex is good but can be installed wrong so just check the connections. There is nothing that you can not repair and no the plumbing is not at all that difficult. Just start slow and check the connections first, start at the fresh water tank then work to the first tee. Stop at that point and go to the city water inlet and check from there to the same point you stopped at from the water tank. If that is all good then easy points (kitchen sink) then water heater and last bathroom. I hope that this is not too confusing as I am only half awake and will reread this later!
