Restoration / repair help

Looking for an independant RV repair guy (not a commercial dealer) in South Central Texas to do some cosmetics and minor repair on a pretty good shape 1975 International 31' Airstream. Considering polish job and water heater replacement, plus some odds 'n ends. Prefer somebody in a 100 mile radius of San Antonio. Know of anyone?

Will appreciate your recommendation.

I don't know of anyone in Texas... but you might repost, or type in another response in your thread to put it back in the front list for folks to view. Also you might contact the local Vintage Airstream group (connected through the WBCCI) they might know! Key in the search box several different search terms like Vintage Airstream Texas and see what you find!

Good luck! The polish job is a spendy one... for a trailer your size! Any decent RV repair shop should be able to replace the hot water heater... at least give you an estimate!

Checked into polishing before I bought my motor home, did a lot of looking and reading what others had tried. From stripping the clear coat, to working thru the different grades of polish (from course to fine) I decided I was not up to it. There was a guy or company that was advertising they were polishing airstreams. They had some examples of work they had done and it looked pretty good. And now for the other shoe... It must be quite a chore because they charged $125.00 a liner foot!!! That would mean it would cost about $3875.00 to get my 31' polished . I decided that the small imperfections in the finish are "beauty marks" and the add character to the airstream.
I've had some luck with these folks as far as parts, I know they are not independent but they treat you that way. they are in Huston

Good luck

Call Eric Stoltz at Texas Vintage Trailer in New Braunfels ... His shop was pretty full when I paid him a visit a couple months ago, but he might be able to help you out. (Most of his work focuses on complete restorations, but you never know.)

Even if he can't squeeze you in, his operation is quite impressive, and well worth a visit.
