Smile Proud New Parent (owner)

Hi all,

I'm definitely a newbie and the soon to be proud owner of the newborn (FC 19) shown in the photo... she's healthy and has 10 fingers and 10 toes. .

My first couple of outings will be local (Austin, Tx) so that I can practice operating the RV and getting used to things. in July I plan to head north to cooler climes as fast as possible for a two week excursion, with the Finger Lakes in NY as my destination. Wish me luck!

I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming years.

Safe Travels to all!

Best,
Brent

You've got the Hill Country on your doorstep, and the wildflowers are awesome this year. Go for it!

Congratulations on your new Airstream. Do you have a picture of the Chevy with the Airstream hooked up?

Thanks looks great. Do you think there is enough power? Do these trucks have a transmission temp gauge?

It seems to have enough power, but my only experience with it so far (+/- 500 Miles) is on the IH35 corridor in Texas between San Marcos, Austin and Dallas --which is pretty flat terrain... not even rolling terrain, really. And the weather has been rainy and windy. On one leg I averaged 12.3 MPG calculated. I had one stretch coming back from Dallas and the sun was shining, and I was showing over 15 MPG on the instruments. Maybe I had a tail wind. As soon as I ran into more rain and wind, the MPG decreased. One instance, when I was going up a constant grade (> 2%) it down shifted and ran the revs pretty high... I didn't like that. But I was not in tow/haul mode, and I had the cruise control set. That concerned me, in case I ever go to the Rockies.

The Drivers Information Center has a screen where you can monitor the transmission temperature, but there is not a gauge.
