New and now more informed...

Hi All...
I am new here... Reading and have made a few posts. Lots of good feedback and information. Thanks all.

I just got a 1975 '31 land yacht int. from my father.
It is the twin rear bath model. He was the second owner. He has given it to me so what can I say there... Now that I have been reading I have a better idea of all that it needs. Boy life was better when I knew nothing.
It had been sitting in storage for 5+ years.
It is in good shape on the inside, just needed good cleaning. We used it bring it up to Wa from Ca where it was. We actually made it. Had one tire go flat in Bend, Or at the camp ground at 4:00 in the morning. the tub went bad. then a tire blew on the freeway about 100 miles from home. made it home on the spare. Have since put 4 new tires on her.

So now that it is home I have had time to...
Start the process of cleaning everything out.
Fixed the shower. Valve was froze and found a busted pipe by the valve. after removing the shower panal got the pipe fixed and all back together.
Replace the vent seal foam and screen seal foam.

Now for what it needs.
There is a dent in the rear three top panels, need replacing.
I know now that I have frame seperation, need to address that.
Need new axles, 5-10 % up angle.
I am in the process of replacing the water pump, it was leaking.
Need to replace the window, door and cargo door seals.
New sealent around all thing on the outside.
Repaint on the AC cover and front a frame and back bumper.
Re-attach the belly skin in places.
I will be removing the carpet and putting in wood laminte.
Needs to have the curtins cleaned and at some point replaced.
needs to have the foam replaced at some point in the beds and front sofa.

And that is just what I have come up with so far.
Thanks all...
-Garth

have you checked the flooring? That is always a major concern on our type Airstreams. Especially in the front around the gaucho, near the walls...and in the bathroom.

I have started in looking in the Bath checked through the rear cargo door and look behind the shower when I had that appart. I also looked at the floor by the wall when looking at how to get the pump out from under the galley sink.
I will be doing more looking when I get the old carpet out.
Thanks,
Garth

Hi Garth -

You've got quite a to-do list! If you want a fun day, drive up to the Mt. Baker Rally in Deming on the 19th - there will be lots of great vintage trailers (and tow vehicles) and you might come away with some good ideas.

Good luck with your project!

I would come but I will be out of town that weekend.

Update one trailer... Started to pull out the carpet last night and found the floor wet. we got rain about two days ago. looks like it might be the vista-view window or the lower ovel ones. found signs of water on the sills.
Guess I will be sealing the trailer this weekend. this one went to the top of the list.
