Maiden Voyage

Hi! We just graduated from a Dutchman pop-up trailer of 18 years to a 2014 International Serenity 23D. Woo hoo! The tow vehicle is a 2015 Q7. We wanted a hard sided trailer to allow us access to more locations that require them. Why an Airstream - do you really need to ask?! Perhaps the same reason the other car is a VW bug and we lean toward mid-century modern furniture.
We pick it up from the dealer Tuesday and leave just before labor day to drive to Canada to have the hitch reinforced (6 day drive, 9 day trip). Any reason for a road trip!

I have a question for anyone who would care to comment. What are the 'checklist' items we should know about (aka: don't leave home without it)? Wheel Chalks? Leveling? Suggested tools/parts? Gloves for the black tank (ew), that sort of thing. I'd welcome suggestions on all of them (e.g. - my husband said he'd seen lots of "large, orange, lego-like" wheel chalks in use).

I think we're 'good' for the inside, having 'trailed' for a few decades (e.g. - containing things so they don't fly around, traveling light, etc...).

We're looking forward to joining you all on the road! Happy Trails~

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

As to your questions, might I suggest the following:

- The Sewer Solution for dumping the black tank.
- A battery-powered drill/driver for lowering and raising the stabilizers.
- Lynx Levelers (or similar) for side-to-side leveling.
- Brass quick connects for the water hoses.
- RV shore power surge protector.

Best wishes on your maiden voyage.

Brian
