You're in luck - in just a couple of weeks the greatest learning opportunity for Airstreaming in Texas will be occurring only a relatively few miles from your present location.

Do a search on "2010 Texas Vintage Airstream Rallly". It will be held over the weekend of Feb 13-14 (actually from Feb 10 to the 14).

This should be an absolute no miss for you, there should be well over a hundred Airstreams there for you look at and ask questions.

This year the Rally is in competition with Mardis Gras in New Orleans, but there will STILL be more information disseminated than most well be able to absorb in a single weekend.

Use the "search" tab in the upper right hand pull-down area - it will soon become your best friend.

I have a 1983 Excella myself. I have a Dish HD DVR and SBC Global DSL & land line phone. You can see pretty much everything here. The only changes are minor, the silver Dish 622 DVR replaced with a black 722 (middle shelf), G4 tower Mac replaced with a Mac Mini (top behind TV), and the DVD player below the Dish DVR gone (dead, but computers that support 1920 x 1080 upconvert, old DVD players don't). The speakers are JBL Creature II, the subwoofer is in the bottom shelf next to the DSL router (left) and phone (right).

I did build the credenza top with the extra area for the 37" TV/monitor. I looked at wall mounting options and decided that a new top was both less difficult and stronger/safer. Replaced the dinette top with the same laminate (Wilsonart Deepstar Mineral) from the same sheet of laminate. Using the TV for a monitor has been great for me. That is a screen saver image in the photo (Trivia, Lilly pads in Austin's Zilker Park)

My '83 didn't have cable or phone inputs, so I added a combo RV box below the radio on the belly pan and came up through the floor there.

Enjoy you new Excella. We need pictures.
