Brand New Guy

Hello,

Just aquired a 76 31' Airstream. I found this site and it looks like there is a lot of great info on it. My wife and I live in MN and really enjoy camping. I have never owned an airstream, they seam like great campers.. the best I may say. However I would like to know where or how I can get the outside back to being shiney and new!

Hi and welcome to the forums. We have lots of help available. Learn to use the search tool on the upper blue tool bar. You will find that systems are the same from model to model and there are many threads about repair and rehab.

Ask if you get stuck!

There are a number of professionals who will polish your coach's exterior and a few who are also capable of applying the factory style Plasticoat. It is also possible to polish the coach yourself -- it is a very big undertaking on a coach the size of a Sovereign! I know that there was no question in my mind regarding how to bring back the exterior on my coach -- I looked to one of the professionals who has been in the business for several decades. I took my coach to the Ruths -- P & S Trailer Service in Helena, Ohio -- they took my coach from its forelorn appearance to its original factory appearance (friends of my family purchased the coach new and I have many fond memories from when the coach was new). You can learn about P & S Trailer Service at:

P & S Travel Trailer Service, Helena, Ohio

There are a number of threads here on the Forums regarding methods for do-it-yourself Plasticoat removal and polishing that can be accessed through the search function.

Good luck with your coach!

Kevin

Here's a pic of my 1976 31" Sovreign. P&S did the polishing and clear coat. They are great people. I have no complaints. In fact, all I get is compiments everywherer I go.

Wow DreamWeaver, what a great looking trailer. Not the cute little cream colored Argosy I'm use to, but still good looking.
