A new member says Hello

Hi everyone. My name is Rick and although the screen name is Rick56safari I have a wonderful wife named Joanna. We recently brought a 1956 Air Stream Safari, 22 ft, from a fellow in Fillmore CA. We are extremly happy with our new baby and plan on traveling throughout the US with it in the future.

We are going to have a lot of questions for the forum members as we go along and hopefully we can also help out other members

I should tell you that during our trip home from Fillmore CA, we went thru some of the worst storms in the last 10 yrs of CA history and the Air Stream did great. IT held the road during high winds and rain. Quite the trip for our first time.
We will post pictures shortly
Thanks for the opportunity to say HI.

Hello and welcome! One of the cool features of an Airstream with the aerodynamics is not just low drag while towing, but as you found out, strong side winds don't affect it as much either. How do you reckon you'd do if you were pulling a white box? I know you'll enjoy owning an Airstream, owning one has changed our lives.

Hi Rick and Joanna and welcome to the community! Congratulations on your 56 Safari. I really love the Safari layout and body style! We just baught an Airstream and joined this group last week! This website rocks! Caravaning and camping adventures in our Tin can are so very close. The next step is finding a tow vehicle.

Here's a slideshow of our baby. We just got her for 2500!

Welcome, Rick.

We drove our Bambi 19' 2002 home from Eugene to Ashland in October and it hasn't moved since. We're waiting for camping weather to take it out (we're new to this). Looking forward to 'Streaming this spring and summer. See ya there!

Thank you, everyone for the warm welcome. Since some of you guys are local (PNW) to us and have more mature Air Streams as we do, do you know of any reputable floor and carpet places that can replace the tile and very old carpeting in our trailer with a new sheet vivyl? Our "tin can" came out of The Shady Dell Trailer Court in Bisby, AZ and as soon as we hit the wet weather all the tiles have come up.
Joanna says she wants it done "nice" so that leaves me out of doing any replacement work :-D. Any ideas for a local place who can do the work for us?
Thanks
Rick
