1968 Airstream Overlander Land Yacht

Hello! My husband and I recently acquired a 1968 Airstream Overlander Land Yacht. I am interested in meeting other persons who have this similar trailer. I would love to see pics of your changes so I can get ideas for ours. Our trailer is in very poor condition; exposed sub floor, ripped and frayed cushions, control panel is very damaged etc etc.
Despite this, we find the Airstream to be awesome and look forward to making upgrades.

It would also be nice to know what websites are out there to find vintage items for our Airstream.

Any information would be appreciated,
Valerie

Hello, fellow Overlander- If you click on "Forums" at the top of the page, you'll see many different categories of useful threads, including a subforum near the bottom for specific trailer models, like the Overlander. If you look around, you'll also find other restoration websites. This is a VERY helpful website if you take the time to explore it. Have fun! -tim

Congratulations.....

Welcome to the club....1968 was a very good year.....the year of our Ambassador and the birth of my son. We totally gutted the inside because the floor was rotten and the trailer was basically trashed which made it easy....we did keep the floor plan which was a rear bath, curbside sink and twin beds......we have a huge living room and galley. You can see the finished trailer on Uwe's website www.area63productions.com. then go to blog and scroll down to Grand Reveal. Uwe Salwender did the work. We are thrilled with our SteSpot.

You are going to love the windows and shape of your 68---they only made those windows for 3 years---66,67,68.....be gentle with the hardwarde.....again--welcome.....and congratulations. paula

Howdy and welcome to airforums.com. Despite its condition, why don't you post some photos of your trailer here? It will serve as a benchmark for you as your improve it.

The Vintage Airstream Homes has some good photos of your trailer's model year.

How exciting for you! I have a '67, and love it. I, too, would love to see some pictures.

Welcome. There is more info on this site than you can read. So use the search and you find answers to all the common questions.
I have had an 82, 80, 78 and just got a 1966. I love the 60s.

1967 28 foot was for sale

Hi

I just got back from a 3 week vacation done east ( atlantic Canada) One day we when out to see a light house on the east coast, It,s like going to the end of the world.. On the side of the road was an Airstream for sale. It was a 1967 28 foot Overlander. I stopped and talked to owner and he let me have a look inside. It was unreal, it was mint mint mint in side. I checked ever thing in side lights stove every thing worked. The in side was like new nothing was changed. he just installed a new floor.

The price was $4,000.00 CND. When I got home I contacted him and he had sold it. I should have bought it on the spot.

I love my Airstream it,s a 2008 Safari 27FB, I hope it will last as long as that one.

Good luck

Peter
