Thank you Gary. I like S/OS #80! Has a certain ring to it We are Newbie's. Retired in July relocated from Hawaii to Arizona. Had a plan to spend a few years RV ing. Wife wanted airstream but we looked at all kind of rigs. One day saw new Ad no pictures yet, called went to see and purchased our Classic 30 w/so 75th Anniversary Limited Edition. I would upload pics but haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Pics, You add as an attachment but has to be resized, I used a pc and Paint to do it.

I bet you have Dexter 4 piston hydraulic brakes? Right? If so might want to check against the two airstream recalls, one for actuator and one for brake hoses. If these have been addressed, great. If not review with Airstream dealer. If you have drum brakes, ignore but me thinks you have discs. My .02$ the best that exist. Truck and trailer should stop strongly and coordinated. One not over braking the other etc.

Let us know if questions.

Yeah S/OS#080 has style.

Gary

Booma,

Starting the new year with a new member for the many that don't know Boma is in the Low Country area of SC per profile.

Glad to have you and Tom (Stremn) gets the recruiter star for this new member.

We don't know if you're new to Airstreams, RV camping neither or both so chime in and enjoy.

Oh yeah, an official number:

Booma is S/OS#081

19 more and its 100 members!

And take a look at your calendar, its just a nice drive up 95 to 26 to 77 for this years inaugural Alumaslider in NC this September.

Welcome,

Gary

Slide-Out Society - Updated Member List

Welcome aboard Booma! We're glad that you're part of the group! Hmmm as Gary put it only a few more until we hit 100.

Booma there's lot's of info here about your slide...just have to ask the question. We're newbies to AirStream too... had ours just over a year now. We've had lot's of fun and met lot's of great people.

We've got reservations for the AlumaSlider event in September. Love to meet you there too. Our first AirStream event was AlumaLina 2017 this past October. That's where we met Gary & Linda S/OS #001 and Al & Missy S/OS #004.

So without further pomp and circumstance here's our latest Updated Member List and totally unofficial Slide-Out Model number count.

Shredder

Sliders,

I rec'd this message via PM from shredder.

"I believe it was you that contacted me inquiring if we own a S/O.
We do, it is a 2004 30ft Classic. We have owned it since Jan 2013. I don't think I ever replyed to your original inquiry. Our residence is in Oregon and we own a RV park in Summer Lake. We winter it in Apache Junction and own a lot in a resort that started life as a Airstream community. Superstition Resort. I seldom ever check into the forum manly because I really don't understand the complexities of using the forum. I would like to have a member number and we would welcome S/O owners to our park this year."

I sent a pm back but let's go ahead and add shredder to the S/OS. I'm pretty sure this was one of our champion recruiters gotta admit, I ain't keeping track but Tom, Stremn has found many owners.

So on a chilly rare snow messed up day from SC let's welcome shredder to the S/OS.

And the number for shredder is S/OS#082 only 18 more to One Hundred!

Happy Friday!

Gary

Slide-Out Society - Updated Member List

Welcome aboard shredder! Thank you for the invitation to stay at your RV park. We've been to Oregon before but not with an RV. We were doing the rental car, stay at a hotel sort of thing. With the AS definitely would be a much more fun event.

With regard to weather, the east coast blizzard has passed and left us with 10-12 inches of fresh fluffy snow. Now we're dealing with winds gusting to 29 and temps hovering around 14. The winds are drifting the powdery snow everywhere sometimes reducing visibility. It's gonna get me doing the driveway again...

With our new member shredder, you guessed it an updated membership list and totally unofficial slide model count update too.

Those red awnings do set up a beautiful contrast with all that Slidin Aluminum. Looks like a great unit with all kinds of extra's, like a rear view camera, solar and satellite. Interior must be just as good.

Have you weighed your 2002 or earlier Classic 30 Slideout?

If you have weighed your trailer, I would appreciate a post with the scale numbers for comparison. I'm especially interested in the weight that would correlate to the unloaded base weight.

Thanks,

Al

After some research in the parts manuals, I can't find much difference in the structural items between the earlier and later Classic 30s, including the CSA versions, other than the axle ratings. Early had 4400# axles, late had 5000# axles. The A-frame, for example, is the same on all trailers. I would think that if the frame had been beefed up, the A-frame would have been changed.

Thanks,

Al

New Hampshire Winter Thaw

Hi Al -

No direct answer from NH today, or for awhile. We're still in the middle of this winter weather we're all enjoying so much... It was -4F last Sunday morning. Although we've just experienced our January thaw this past week with temps up to 61F...we're now falling back to the frozen winter tundra. It was 58F at 9am today and as I write this it's 31 and falling fast.

Dorothy was snow in, but the warm up cleared things so that only the snow piles from shoveling and plowing remain. Here's a picture of her after one of the four storms we've had so far this winter.

To keep this on topic I looked at the weight sticker on the back of the cedar closet door. It listed a Unloaded Vehicle Weight (UVW) of 8000 and Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 10300. For some reason in the back of my mind I thought the unloaded weight was 7800, but this is what the sticker says. I haven't had it on the scale to confirm this.

Stay Warm!

Hello SOS #80 here😎we are having a facelift done on interior and new flooring is going in throughout. Where can I get information on how to do this on a slide? My remodel guy has done lots of Airstream but said this was his first slide. Happy weekend. Carolyn

Carolyn take a look in this thread starting at post #404. There's some chatter about redoing floors etc... There's another further back at: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f366...ml#post1990177
This and the posts after discuss the slide rollers itself...

Getting Weighed

I took my Classic 30 Slideout to Sumter Oaks RV Park in Bushnell. FL to take advantage of the Smartweigh program offered by Escapees, and had some interesting results.

I was pleasantly surprised by the side to side and front to rear balance of the trailer wheel weights. The side to side weight variance was less than 20# and the front to rear variance was less than 100#. I was really expecting it to be RS-heavy due to the slide.

I have basically done nothing to try to balance the weights other than moving our bottled water and soft drink storage location from the under-bed area to one of the dinette drawers and making sure the trailer was level front to back when towing.

I have posted a more detailed description in the Propride users thread. If you use a Propride (or a Hensley) to tow your slider you may be interested in what I posted there.

The bad news is I was overweight. We are in the midst of a weight loss exercise, removing stuff from the trailer that I thought would be a good idea to carry but never used like some spare parts, sealants, and other things that probably would not be needed on the road unless we went to traveling full time. The galley equipment, camping accessories, and other nick-knacks are getting a close examination as well. If we haven't used it in the last few trips, it's coming off.

Al
