Saw that the Skydeck Registry somehow got a list of production vs year.
Anybody got friends at JC and wanna try for same?

From the thread you posted it it looks like they just asked customer service. Those Skydecks are pretty rare from those production numbers.

AirStream Slide-Out Production Numbers
AirStream Customer Relations answered our question...
Six Hundred and Seventeen (617) - S/O Travel Trailers from 2000-2009
I guess we've got some more recruiting to do ...
Customer Relations provided a .pdf copy of the spreadsheet with Year and Model information. I've included it here for reference. When I get the opportunity I'll update our data to include this new info.

A far cry from the 84 units they told me when I was at Jackson Center a couple of years ago. 617 sounds way high to me considering the actual number one sees or hears about. Personally, I question that number.

Tom,
Nice job and big thanks.
I certainly cannot confirm or deny the existence of or the total count of Airstream Slideouts.
Heard the cannot confirm or deny story on NPR the other day but the Mother Ship has spoken, using their slide rule to boot.
Wonder if we can get the crew from the X Files to investigate?
I'm just glad I formatted the number as three digits.
Wow my fellow sliders, let's carry on.
Gary

A Counterfeit?
Tom... thanks for the extra effort and supplying us with the 'official' Airstream production list.
I was extremely sad to learn that I have a counterfeit unit. Per the pdf, there were no 2003 Safari 28s built!
Mine is titled as a 2003 unit, the build date stamped on the frame and placard is October 2002, and it has all the requisite stickers/labels found on official units. My data mismatches versus the PDF are dry weight of 6760 (80 lbs more that 2004 production), a hitch weight of 960 (90 lbs less), and GVW of 8600 (500 lbs less) versus official models.
Who knows where, how, and by whom a 2003 Safari 28 S/O was built so long before Airstream actually released theirs. The extraordinary thing is it has the same layout and materials of the 2004 and later units. I even have a serial number that appears genuine by format.
So, was it made using stolen plans gained through industrial espionage? Is it possible it is a super rare creature known as a Prototype (lucky me)? Or, maybe, the list just might contain errors.... is that even possible?

Let's ask the question...
Dave - I'll ask the question with the info you've posted. My guess is that you've got the super secret first one... 1 of 1
Before I send the follow-up request back to Customer Relations is there anything else we'd like to clarify? Rather than sending multiple requests I'd like to put it all in one.

Hi Sliders
I just wanted you all to know my last years experience with my 2002 Classic Slider. My wife had a stroke after open heart surgery and I used our AS to live in for 10 months, during a historic winter here in Idaho for snow and cold.
To begin with, in October 2016 I winterized my water line with heat tape and insulation. Idaho had a 30-50 year winter of snow and cold. I was in a KOA in Meridian, Idaho that has a windy exposure. I brought my wife home, 60 miles north to Garden Valley, in mid February, but the AS stayed in the Campground. So last week, I decided to take our Slider to the A S dealer for winterizing. That meant that the slide had been open for over 16 months in a really bad winter with mega snow and below zero temps. I was very anxious about bringing in my slide. No worries, it came in like a new one.
I am very impressed with the quality and workmanship of my 16 year old AS, especially with a slider.

Thanks for sharing! Great info on our slides. That's impressive performance in that kind of cold weather.

Glad you found us! You're in the right place.
Gary S/OS #001, our Exalted Grand Slider will formally assign you an Official Slide-Out Society S/OS number. By my calculations and records that would be S/OS #077, but we'll let the Master Slider bestow the official designation.
Seriously though, welcome to our little group!
All the best!

A new member, A new member all right here we slide again!
It'll be a while before I catch Tom STREMN messing up on his Access Database records but I scanned and the bingo cage rolled out............
S/OS#077 For mama tarrh and a 34' that's a slide-o-rama sized AS, wow!
Welcome to the Slide Out Society and make sure you check next years calendar for the Alumaslider Rally at Stone Mt. State Park, NC.

Updated Member List
With the latest addition of mama tarrh to the group I updated our member lists for reference.
We have 77 S/OS members that opted into the group. We've corresponded with 8 other Slider's that bring our known to be active on Air Forums to 85.
AirStream Customer Service provided us a breakdown of production by year and model. They reported 617 Slide Outs were produced from 2000-2009. I added that as a new column of info to the year and model sheets for comparison.
There are two glaring issues when you compare the A/S data to our compilation of information.
1. A/S missed a 2003 28' Safari (Believe it's lumped into 2004)
2. A/S reported 35 2000 30' Classic's which are probably 2001's
Interesting information for us Slide Out Owners. On a side note we had 3 Slide Outs at Alumalina 2017. We got to meet Gary & Linda S/OS #001 along with Al & Missy S/OS #004.

Would be curious as to whether Airstream used the build date rather than model year in their production numbers. That would explain the variance in the 2000 model numbers. My 2004 was built in oct 2003. I know when they quoted annual production numbers of trailers built, they normally quoted the calendar totals rather than model year totals.

That maybe Jack... Our AS is a 2008, but it was built in 2007. Just like car and truck new model year production. I once ordered a 2011 PU in Sep 2010. It was delivered in Oct 2010. So did that go into the 2010 or 2011 production numbers? What we would think of as production may not be what AS thinks of as production.
I'll have to follow-up with Customer Service. I didn't want to burden them with a bunch of non-productive questions. They were nice enough to do the research to come up with what we have. There's no obligation to provide this type of info to our group, but we appreciate them working with us!!!

I would be very interested in knowing, if those number reflect the actual number of slide-out's, then what were the total production numbers, by year, for all 28-34' AS Safari and Classic trailers as a comparison. I would think by now, we would have registered at least 200 sliders if the real number was 617. Just sayin'.

I remember I visited JC in the summer of 2001 and during the tour we were told that production was putting out 26 or 27 trailers a week. I saw no slide outs on the line, but saw two slide components being put together sitting on the floor off the assembly line. The slides were molded out of fiberglass and had not been clad with aluminum. Wish I had taken a picture. At that point I just purchased a Safari earlier in the spring and a slide wasn't on the radar.

Pamela Anderson's Lovestream
Here is a 34' slide out that has yet to be registered:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/JZqPshSZhLY
According to an item posted on RV Short Stops, the 2001 silver beauty came “complete with mirrored ceilings, white shag carpeting, faux leather on the walls and the Playboy bunny logo embossed on the sofa. The $100,000 RV was a gift to Pamela Anderson from Playboy Magazine’s Hugh Hefner.”
The trailer was posted for sale in Laughlin, Nevada in 2009. Anybody want to fess up to having bought it?
