I just wanted to fix a water line.

Not sure if this goes here. Being that I started this trying to fix a broken water line under the sink. Well as some might imagine sometimes things are not what they seem. Well I am now pepping the frame for a coating of POR-15 with the hopes (disillusion) of putting a floor down this week.

For those interested this was the end of the day. Degreased and metal prepped. Tomorrow we paint.

I got the frame painted with two coats of POR-15 and it looks good. Next step is belly pan. This could be interesting because I wanted to go back with a one piece belly pan and the only material I could find was from a local trailer repair facility and it is .040 thick. Fortunately I only have to transition over the gray water tank at the very back. Old pan rolled up with new material next to it.

hey your garage looks kinda like mine........unfinished projects everywhere! What is that on the lift? In it's stripped down stage it looks like it could be anything from a Camaro to a Pinto???

It is a Puma GTC. They where built in Brazil in the 60s through the 90s and also in South Africa.

Enough about the Puma, its belly pan time. I rolled out the new one and placed the old one on top of it for measurements. I guess they shrink with age?

I cut the material down to size and got it on to the frame. Who would have thought a .040 pan would be almost twice as heavy as the .024 original pan.

Please post a picture or detail how you lifted the body off the frame. Specifically the attachment point on the roof. Any buckling? Reinforcements?

In my other Thread you will see photos of the Gantry Crane set up. On the inside of the camper all you need is a 16 foot 2x6 board. You do need to remove the items that stick down from the ceiling. I did't completely remove my vents so I drilled recesses in the 2x6 to marry with the vent handle stubs. After that it is sloooowwwwllly lifting the shell so you can go back and cut those pesky rivets that you missed. No buckling or reinforcements needed for lifting. If you have a flat surface to put the shell on then you can set it right down on the ground if not you will need to set up something so you don't roll the edges on the high points of the ground.

Quick update. Sorry no picture as no work was accomplished on the frame. I was traveling for my real job the last couple of days. I ordered and receive some 5052H32 Aluminum from AirPartsinc.com for the wraps so this weekend I plan to have that installed and the I may even put some plywood on the top. Weather depending and my parents are moving back to Knoxville this weekend so I may have to drop every thing for them.

Wow time flies. I have been way too busy at work with far to much traveling (work). It really kills the week. I have gotten a few thing done on the frame. Belly pan on, wraps installed, new axles install and frame flipped right side up. Last weekend I bought so 19/32nd plywood which is just under 5/8th and guess what. Go ahead and guess. That's right it is too thick. So I had to take the power planer to the edges. By the end of the weekend I had everything cut and ready to start bolting/screwing it down. That brings us to this weekend and weather reports Friday said 80% chance of rain Saturday and Sunday. So I didn't even plan on any out door work. By 6:30 pm we had exactly 0.00" of rain. We will have to see what tomorrow brings. Of course I will be out of town for the next month so I don't expect to accomplish much. Here are some pics.
