Gutted '67 Caravel - laminate questions

I have a gutted 67 Caravel and am almost done with the subfloor.

I was most likely use trafficmaster allure laminate strips or tiles.

Should I tile the entire subfloor?

Or can i get away with just the parts i walk on? Is there a need to tile under the fresh water tank and gaucho? Seems like i could buy half as much tile if i just tile the middle area that is walked on.

Thanks!

There isn't a real need to tile under everything. It's a lot EASIER to tile under everything because everything will be sitting on top of the flooring rather than having to trim your flooring around it. I tiled under everything in my Bambi II (same size as your Caravel) and have--oh--about 2' of flooring showing. But it was very easy to install. It's really your call!

I did carpet in mine. I left the floor bare under the cabinets, etc. I'm glad I did because it's easy to spot and dry out leaks.

As you know, these projects keep getting pushed back. Two jobs, Two kids and a move to California have eaten up all of time. I havent started back on my caravel yet. I got the subfloor in, had an electrician rewire the thing and thats it. No flooring yet.

But my plans are: Im going to leave what is under the bed, gaucho and furniture plain subfloor. Really no need. Im not camping in cold weather, no need for the insulation. I like what one poster said about being able to see water penetrations with bare floor. Easier to spot issue.

So i will only have to floor a small area maybe 5ft by 5ft. I will probably go to home depot or lowes and buy some of the thicker trafficmaster stick on planks. It will be easy to clean and easy to replace if needed.
