Blue Book for Airstreams?

Hello,

Does anyone know if there is some kind of a Blue Book for airstreams or if one can find out the dealer cost of a trialer to know what a fair price to pay is?

Last week I saw a new 2008 DWR sell for $40,400. I know these were selling for around $49,00 last year. I had asked what the couple who bought this particular trailer, had paid, a little later a different salesman told me that if this couple didn't follow through he would sell it to me for $44,000!!!!! Too funny!

Most everything, from all manufactures, at the Harrisburg RV show 3 weeks ago was being quoted at -33%.

If there is a Blue Book it is now Pale Blue at best.

I would call at least 4 dealers for a price. Include Colonial in that group. Last year I met a fellow from Wa. State that drove to NJ because of price. That was before things got real tight.

NADA only goes back to 75. According to the blue book a 75 is worth about $2500.(from memory) If anyone want's to sell their 75 for $2500 I'm your man.

On the other hand if you are interested in my 71 negotiation can start about 15 grand.

That's the whole deal; any coach that's been upgraded to current is worth a ton: the rest are used trailers and motor homes : buyer beware.

Not really sure how the NADA prices are working. I am sure that my trailer is worth more than the few thousand dollars shown for the accessories included. I paid $5,000 for my Excella and it needs work to bring it up to my standards. It will be worth $12,000 - 15,000 at that point but will be able to go anywhere, anytime and be fairly independent off the grid for two to three days at a time without an generator (no A/C included). Maybe I just love my baby too much but would buy another unit for $2000 at any time if it is in the shape that I found mine.

The problem with NADA RV is that it doesn't consider condition & upgrades & extras - BIG DEAL when looking at a used Airstream. Most people will always pay more when the condtion amd extras are exceptional.

We are also looking at trailers and it does vary quite a bit. I don't know if what I am offering for a trailer is the going price or not?

NADA + 10K seems to be the going price every time I look at a used AS !

Here is something that most dont know,,,
NADA, Edmonds, and all those guides was not made or designed to give a true value but give a value that favors dealers, wholesalers, Lending Institutions, etc, and not the consumer. So the next time you go to a dealer or anywhere and they say that the price they are giving you is what NADA or Edmonds has and is the true value you can be rest assured it is the true value in thier favor and just another way to keep you from getting a fair price.
I think that unless these books start reflecting true value they should be banned or not allowed to be used.
Here is more proof, next time you are on a used lot look up the item in the books and tell the dealer that the NADA, Edmonds says that it is only worth this! and see if the response you get aint something like "we dont go by NADA" or "we have another more accurate book we go by that is for dealers/wholesalers"
