1999 Safari 25' , community thoughts...
Two years into looking for a suitable Airstream my wife and I finally took the plunge. We found a private party selling a 1999 25c foot safari for $17500. Seller pretty firm and everything worked. They were selling for medical reasons. It also had two a/c units. One installed in 2011, newer 2013 unit installed above the bed . Sway bar system installed as well. They removed the remaining clear coat and polished it. I think that's what we fell in love with. I guess I am looking for affirmation we didn't overpay. We did spend another 2k making it our own, wood floors, new faucets, refurbed the cabinets, new upholstery on couch and dinette, new toilet and base, new gas regulator. Nervous about appraisal. I still need insurance to make sure i can get a decent replacement value. Any thoughts from the people in the know? Will post some pictures soon, almost done with it.

Sounds like you have a nice trailer. Why worry about what you paid if you get lots of use out of it? Old Airstreams in very good condition are hard to come buy and sellers stick to their prices.
We have a 2004 25 foot Safari and find the size and floor plan ideal for our uses. We purchased it in 2004 and have used it about 30 days a year since then. The inside got a little tired and we remodeled it with composite flooring and a dinette rather than the couch and floppy table. The original clearcoat looks good on mine but I have waxed it frequently.
You can get an agreed value insurance policy if you are willing to pay for it. Contact National Interstate Insurance Company. They do business over the internet and specialize in recreational vehicles.

I paid about 15% more for a 2001 twin bed model that had been converted at the factory to recliners from the couch. The exterior of mine was in pristine condition, so no need to strip and polish but yours looks great. I love the polished look.
I like the older interior look, kinda retro, but yours looks updated. Some will see that as an upgrade, some not.
I don't think you will have any trouble getting agreed value insurance. Mine is with Progressive through USAA.
Progressive said they might want an appraisal, but they didn't ask for one.
Welcome, and enjoy it.

Wow, I thought for sure I would need an appraisal. Who came up with the agreed value amount?
This was straight from progressives website.
Proof of value is required for this option. For RVs purchased less than two years ago, the purchase documents are proof of value. For RVs purchased more than two years ago, an appraisal serves as proof of value.

I put a value on the application and they agreed to it. As I recall, the wording on my application wasn't as strongly stated. Either it is different for USAA members subbed to Progressive or they have changed their policy (no pun intended) since I applied.
On reading your message again, it says in part: "Proof of value is required for this option. For RVs purchased less than two years ago, the purchase documents are proof of value". You did purchase it less than two years ago, right?

I called progressive and interestingly enough they will issue a policy for cash value and not make it an agreed value policy until one of three things is satisfied.
1. A bill of sale from a dealer. 2. Nada guide or rvtrader.com value assessment or 3. A Notarized Qualified appraisal by a certified appraiser.
Looks like I will move on with an appraisal and make sure it's an agreed value policy.

ACV insurance on an Airstream is near worthless. NADA had my trailer at around $3500, I think. I did make up a Bill of Sale and had the seller sign it. I don't recall that I sent it to them, but I may have. Again, may be different now or since I didn't go direct to Progressive. I don't have any idea how to locate a "certified appraiser". Certified by whom, for what?

You got a good deal. Used 25 ft Airstreams are hard to find. They are a good size to pull. That one looks to be in very nice condition. Insurance is a different matter. If you had not paid that for it someone else would have.

I am going to looks at a 2006 Safari 25 in Oregon on Sunday (see classifieds). Very lightly used, original owner and they are asking $42k. So 17k nowadays is very good.

Hi!!! I'm currently fulltime in my 2003 Safari 25' and have been contemplating interior updates. All original and pristine condition with upholstery including window valances updated but removable. Nothing permanent. Did this in case of resale but flooring? Thoughts ideas on that? We are all so different in style what I like the next may not. Ya know? Why I have interchangeable things to take it down to original if necessary. Now things like window seals and general upkeep I'm all over. Seen valued at 32 upwards of 59 with slot of extra mods. Also looking at the rv market in general I'm just trying to decide what to do with life and dont feel flooring would devalue but also could just clean carpets and put up for sale. Confused. Will always own one but it's a matter of sticks n bricks for a minute and try buy an older one I can rehab or put in a floor and keep hauling ass!!! Just curious thoughts on values off the cuff. Thanks
