Bee in my bonnet
I am sitting outside my bambi at Floyd Bennett National Park, in Brroklyn,NY. I am rereading Airstreams, Custom Interiors by David Winick. A bee is now buzzing loudly in my head. I camp mostly alone for work, about 160 days a year. I would love to do the back corner bed like the 75th Anniversary Winick. Actually I really want one of those at almost any price.
I looked underneath the bed and I have a stow away closet, so I think if I got rid of mattress, cut and reenforced bed bottom, added the partial slide out to make a full bed and had new custions made, I could have a new living area. I only need to know what the depth of the new "couch" would be. I then would just use that part as a bed. If anyone has this model and can check that for me.
When
I had my TAB, i took away one side of the cushions, lowered the table and put it on the bench. I the slept across the width of the couch and table was off to the side.
For the airstream, I think it would open it up. I am not a carpenter, but I think it could work. Any ideas, yes or no on making this change. Sometimes I miss the obvious. Thank you in advance.,

I think you are right, sure would make getting in bathroom easier. Time to shake things up a bit.

What kind of work do you do? Do you do it from the Airstream? Your idea sounds good.

Good for you, and congratulations on 25 years.
Been to Ireland I believe 5 times...maybe 4.
Perfect that you can take lodging with you to work.
Spending as much time in your trailer as you do, it is important to be able to look around and be centered and nurtured by your interior.
Be sure to post pictures of your modifications.

That sounds like a great life! Freedom to get on the road for a good portion of the year and take your business with you! It's inspiring to see that you do it in a smaller Airstream and get along just fine.

I don't have measurements for you but we have a 19' (and came close to getting the special edition)... Your idea is completely doable...to avoid major reconfiguring, I would just remove the bed platform up to the partitions between the storage area under the compartment where the water heater is located...you'd also want to leave the section across the back that's above the outside stage compartment, make a sort of L-shaped bench ... and do the slide out to the full width on the forward part of that L-bench ... You'd probably also need to devise a supporting leg of some kind for when the slide panel is extended. Good luck!
