Black Water Solutions

My 2012 Sport lives in my large backyard here in Tucson AZ. I am having more and more ideas about living in it full-time, but have one major issue - Black Water. My home clean out is way too far away and uphill to use the Sewer Solution, ****! I have looked at the portable systems and that would work, but what a pain in the butt...... I am planning on building a small guest house/office near my Airstream and would eventually have a composting toilet in that structure. My idea is to be able to hook up the Airstream black water to that composting toilet , using the Sewer Solution. That way I now have two usable toilets and most importantly the Airstream toilet can be used. Or so that is what I'm hoping to do. I know the Sewer Solution uses a lot of water. I have no experience with composting toilets. Can I plumb to a composting toilet that would take on that much water, ****, and toilet paper when I dump the Airstream? I'm thinking no, but thought I would ask the experts. Does anyone have any other ideas about how to get rid of black water when there is no option to hook into city plumbing?

I don't think composting toilets use any water.

One of the best things I ever did was install a Jabsco macerating pump in my trailer. I've pumped out the black tank 200 feet through 3/4" black plastic irrigation pipe although that was downhill. Jabsco recommends a 1" hose but those are rare and I usually use a 5/8" or a 3/4" garden hose depending how far I need to go. After 20 some odd years the nuts that held the pump together dissolved so I tried a cheaper pump and ended up going back to a Jabsco. It's a project to get it set up but very useful. Leland

How far is your cleanout? I successfully used the Sewer Solution for three months to pump black discharge slightly uphill (maybe 3' increase in elevation over the 190' run) through a combination of 140' of 1" PVC and 50' of 5/8" garden hose.

It could get a little tricky at times to get the flow just right, but once I got the hang of it, it worked out fine. To keep things moving at this distance, I had to hang the garden hose down into the cleanout deep enough so that the exit was overall lower than the waste gate on the trailer. Then I would start the fresh water and let it run until I'd get constant flow out the other end. Once clean water was flowing, I would open the valve and turn down the fresh water so that it was still providing some "direction" and maceration, but not causing pressure build up, the siphon effect of the flowing water would do the rest. Occasionally it would stop, and I'd have to start over, a little annoying but not that big of a deal. Overall, I'd estimate that I was spending a little over an hour, once per week (2 adults), to dump the tanks.

This may have only worked because I have a macerating toilet as well, no solids to break up at the waste gate.

FWIW, I have not used the Sewer Solution at all since we've hit the road full-time, but it was invaluable during the 3 month period that we were living stationary. And I do still have it with me, along with the 50' of hose, just in case.

For this use case you might look at a composting toilet.

The first thing to research are the dimensions. That may be an immediate show-stopper. Composting toilets are a bit bigger and, unlike a conventional toilet, they are biggest at the base rather than the top of the bowl. You'd need to measure your bathroom to ensure one of these could fit.

Unfortunately the dimensions have ruled out deployment in our Airstream.

Maybe you could put this system in the ground and let it pump to the house cleanout. That way it would work for both the guest house and the trailer.
