Removing rust stains from interior plastic moulding

I bought my 97 Land Yacht from someone who let me know it had a "small leak". Not quite so small as it turned out. I did get the leak repaired as well as some of the mounts to the front windshield. The plastic moulding that sits in the middle of the front windshield, where the rear view mirror mounts, is covered in rust stains. Any idea how to remove that?

Bar keepers friend paste will remove almost any stain. Contains oxalic acid.

If the Bar keeper doesn't work, that piece of molding can be easily removed and painted. I used Fusion spray paint made by Krylon, its made for spraying plastic. Lots of colors you should be able to find one close to your original color.

Easiest way is with "Tuff Stuff" in the red and yellow can available anywhere from $2.88 to $4.99. Wal-Mart too. I clean the entire inside of our coach with it, nothng is easier or better.

We just did ours, used Krylon spray, and chose the light off white colour - matches the dash perfectly, and best of all, it looks clean and new!

First we removed the pieces, not hard to do, then washed everything including the screw covers, with TSP, and then gave it all a coat of paint. Some sections required more coats until all the stains were covered.

They are really easy to take out. I just set them up on sawhorses and sprayed them. Easier than scrubbing! Although I did go over them with TSP first. That and washing the windshield curtains made a huge difference.
Our unit is the same as yours, and just looked tired inside. It's been almost a full-time job for 2 since we bought it, but we're hoping to have it ready for a trip in July.
