Last 6 rolls of LED's arrived
Too late for brother to help out, but I believe I can follow his instructions. Only 4 more lights left to switch to LED. Difference is unbelievable.

Last week I finally got around to installing the street side awnings on the Hagarstream. Actually we went on a rally over the weekend that was in a very hot area so I did it for self preservation. Anyway here's how he looks fully dressed.
Now for my question. I have the rear awning like this one.
Can anyone with this type of awning give me the measurements? I need the dimension of the track slot above the window frame, the distance from the slot to the center of the hinge mount and the distance from the slot to the center of the little shoe for the rod that holds the awning open.
I borrowed this pic from another post, I hope that's OK.
Thanks, Dan

A few pictures to give you an idea, a bit fuzzy but should be ok to show the locations on a 345, which seems to be different then trailer picture you linked to.

Thanks Peter, that's exactly what I needed. It looks like it's about 1-1/2" from the top of the window frame to the lot in the track. I don't have the curved side windows but from the numbers and pictures I think I can make it work. I figure while I'm in the awning mood I should get the last one up and be done with it.
Thanks, Dan

What did you get "from" your Motorhome today?
Not all of the crap left behind by previous owners is...
I pulled the couch out to run some new wires a while back. Among countless coins, Lego's, Crayolas, Goldfish, and other formerly eatable fossils, I found this shinny chain. Figured is was just a piece of gold plated costume jewelry. It was much heavier than I expected. Turns out to be 20 grams of 18 karat gold.
I'd contact the PO and ask them if they had lost a piece of jewelry but they quit responding to my emails and calls to please ship the box of new refrigerator shelves and trays that were supposed to be part of the deal.
Hocking it for part of the new tires is out of the question because Ann likes it too much. But to add inslut to injury, I don't get credit for giving it to her because I didn't shop for it and buy it.

Nice find.
Those dang women just don't want you to get any brownie points that might mean they owe you something.

Whenever you find a piece of jewelry you should keep your mouth shut until you determine the potential benefit. You just never know, ya know?

What I almost got for my Motorhome today
The previous owner had purchased a new windshield gasket, so I decided to have it installed. I asked around for a glass company to do the job and was referred to this company half way across town. I called them and talked to the owner at length about the Motorhome and he quoted me a price of $110.- per side. He wanted me to bring the new gasket by his shop, so he could soak it in oil for a few days to facilitate installation. I delivered it and confirmed the day of installation and had him tell me where I should park the 34.5 long M o t o r h o m e the day of arrival.
I left at 7:00 am on Saturday morning for my 8 am appointment. As you Airstream drivers all know, its always an event to get the rig out on the road after it sits for a while. All went well and I arrived at the glass company at 7:45. They owner came out of his office staring at me like i just landed from Pluto. I saw him talking to his assistance and then he walked over to me and said: "Uhhh, I made a mistake, quoting you a price for the gasket replacement. We usually charge 350.- a side for these and btw, I have never seen one of these, did they make a lot of them, because I thought you were talking about the front windows of a trailer?"
Yeah, right!
Needless to say, I took my gasket, he never soaked in Oil, and went back home. I spend 1 hour to clean up the bad caulk job on the old gasket and will recaulk it with special window sealant next week, for a next to new job for a fraction of the cost.
The moral of the story? Just because someone seems to know what they are talking about, there is a good chance, when it comes to these vintage Motor Homes, that they do not even have a clue....

Does "Bait and switch" ring a bell, great that you had the fortitude to pass on the work.
Autoparts stores sell a windshield caulk thin enough to run in between original gasket and glass, use a thin blade lift gasket and apply, but before you do, try to determine exactly where leak is, disturbing a working gasket could cause more problems.

Went in for a quadrajet rebuild and left with 4 new monroe's, brand spanking new brake system all around, new steering dampner, belts, fuel hoses, plugs and wires.
We take the MoHo out now more than the car and truck - just a pleasure to run errands with and the dog can chillax with the genset AC.. not many issues in parking the 24' either - 2 standard spots will do!

I think I would have been somewhat skeptical right off the bat when he said he could do it for such short money. The simple job of washing the windshield on these things is a small project in itself, let alone pulling the entire glass out of the frame. It seems like you'd almost need scaffolding and a crane to get it done safely.
Not to take sides, but I tend to believe that he really did have no idea as to what you were talking about. Given the cost of a new windshield in the event that it got broken during the removal or reinstallation, he would have been exposed to an awful lot of $$$ risk for the chance to make $110.00 per side.
You're lucky that he didn't attempt it, and smart to have walked away unharmed.

Isn't it funny how that happens? Earlier this year I went in for a front end alignment and wheel bearing repack. Well, a week later...LOL

eBay Treasures
Along with a few other items, I purchased these LED driving lights (sitting on top of existing units) on eBay a few weeks ago. Arrived today, maybe, just maybe if the monsoons don't hit Central Florida, I'll be able to pull the non-working driving lights and install these.
I hope to hook them up to a 12V source to see how the compare to what's there (one is working....)
Thanks, Derek
