Dash fan fix

It's repaired. The new replacement blower is identical to the original and fit right in. The hardest part was getting the fasteners back in place to hold the blower in the air box. No room. I finally resorted to assembling a packet consisting of a rubber washer, a ss washer, and a self locking nut. I glued all this to a socket and was able to get the nut started. Runs great -

Dave, great post and photos. I hope you lubed the pivot points on the air supply door. I found mine originally was very tight and would not always close. A little lube worked wonders.
Great work around on the fasteners for the blower. I had to use JB Weld on my backer plate for the LCD mount nuts due to limited access.

Where is the fuse?

for the dash heater/AC located. We have a diagram for the fuses that are in the glove box but none say heater or AC. When we move the fan speed lever nothing happens so my first thought (and easiest fix ) is a fuse. Thanks

Ron, if your MH fuse block is like our 84 310 then the fuse will be coupled with a wire running from the blower into the fuse block area. If that wire is not plugged into the fuse block it doesn't matter about the fuse On ours the end of the wire from the blower was melted and the connector was gone.

So you're actually looking for a wire AND fuse combintion to make it work. I don't have the manual handy to point out what is fuse location. If someone hasn't chimed in by tomorrow with that info I'll find my manual.

Good luck!

Brad

Ron,

I've scanned in the page in our manual that shows the fuse block and associated connections.

Hope this helps

Ron,

I decided to color in the blocks (something to do at work today ). Might make it easier to reference. At least it does for me

Gee, you could have color-coded the fuses so you would know at a glance what color fuse to put back in. They are different colors for different amperages...

Hello,
I just put an after market AC/Heater unit that went in great and cools with R134. I have the old unit intack, blower and ducts if anyone needs one. It was operational. I wanted more efficeint cooling with less HP drain. Many manufactures are making complete kits for this. The dash was a breeze with no real issues and it does cool and heat.

Chris, who did you go with for the aftermarket A/C? What was the finished cost? Got photos? Thanks.

Air Conditioning Supplier for Airstream

I recently had a problem with my dash air. I talked to Airstream and they turned me over to ACME Air. They are the suppliers of the systems for Airstream. I called them and they have part numbers and cross references for all the components in the system. Mine runs a Ford Blower Resistor with a Chevy Blower and Dodge Controls??? Anyway, they were great. I believe their website is ACME Home Page.

ducting to dash?

We just recharged our dash ac and can hear the fan running but get very little (nice and cold) air out of the dash vents. Anyone have this happen and if so what was the fix?

Pretty much limited to three things

1. Air return blocked - located at bottom of kick board on passenger site.

2. Air ducts under dash not connected to vent plenum or duct crimped

3. Blower motor hooked up reverse polarity

Good luck!

My duct hoses were so brittle they allowed the air to escape everywhere before it got to the vents. Check for cracked duct hoses. You may have to order new ones since they are a larger diameter than what is available in most auto part shops.

We will investigate next week, as it is in the shops for yet another gear vendors glitch! But the GV works great when it does

In post #21 Photo in top left corner. Does anyone know what material is used on the air supply door? Air stream and Inland RV can't seam to find this door, so they don't know what the part number is.
Thanks
