Another Funeral Coach
There is another funeral coach on eBay. This one has a reserve of $10,000 which has been met. Lot's of nice extras and in good shape.

I love the license plate for the vehicle. "LaidOut".

That is Clayton Roger's, hosts of the WDC Unit Cherry Blossum's Rally. He's a great guy! Happy bidding, as I've sat in Laid Out and it's a nice coach.

I think the word "sat",is the operative (or at least the important) word in your post.
Actually, I agree that the AS hearses can be a really neat outfit!

We camped next to that rv for three nights--and we heard all kinds of spooky sounds in that hearse (and not just Rob was lain out in that thing)!
Seriously, the coach has huge potential for use as an entertainment vehicle (the kind corporations rent for tailgate parties). There's a bar in the back (aka, the flower chamber), there's a kitchenette and a lav, there's space for a flat screen tv--and the compartment underneath are ready for installation of a large refrigeration unit and pull-out barbeque.
One might say, only die hard (heh, heh) airstreammers will know what it was originally meant for.

The Hearse is Dead! Long live the Hearse!
"By the late 80’s, the Funeral Coach had itself shuffled off this mortal coil, but hundreds remained in the service of funeral directors across the country."
There is at least one '91 350....

The storage potential..... one could almost lose the toad for a scooter or two.

That thing is very cool. I can see what you mean about the rear bay storage. European RV manufacturers typically put large pass through storage in the rear like that by raising the rear bed platform - after all how much empty space to you need above you while you are sleeping.

Spacccccccce, the foremost need....
The DP 360 has a raised bed to give head room to the Cummins...there is a cute little storage up forward in the engine bay...
That 350 funeral coach was basically a 28ftr with 7ft of "trunk".... with no shower.... no stove...
jerry220ver put his on Ebay tonight...

I don't get it....why would you want to go rv'ing with a stiff?
Frederic
Now let's see how many people realize I'm being facetious....seriously, I couldn't bring myself to ride in a rig that carried around dead bodies, but that's just me.

Frederic, it's not about what it was ... it's about what it can be! The "funeral" is over, the back end of the coach is now a hanging closet and access for all my demo day equipment. As I don't need or want a whole lot of kitchen / shower space taking up "parking room" the funeral coach suited my needs to a T.
My former rolling showroom was a bare shell of a bookmobile. The funeral coach added a touch of class to my traveling road show. My clients are all very complementary of the new rig.
The idea of consolodating hearse, flower car, and limo into one unit makes a lot of sense for an urban funeral home and a small family. The original layout of the 28'er was for 12 family, one driver, flowers and of course the guest of honor.. who only got a one way ride.
Being able to breath new life into this old classic is bordering on a labor of love. As promised I will be working this weekend to bring new photos to the formum. It's a work in progress but it's getting rave reviews where ever I go. This week in the western NC mountains.... tonight from the Wal-mart lot in Hendersonville NC.

We all have to go sometime.... why not in an Airstream?
And each day we get closer to meeting what comes next... are you prepared?
Mr. Garcia said it.."What a long strange trip it's been." and now he's gone too.
Someone once said also, "get busy living or get busy dieing." The harder you try the former the closer you get to the later.
I'm actually glad that lots of folks find the coach creepy, if everyone realized what a bargain these things were I'd have had to pay way more than I did!!

More pictures and facts on the Astrovan would be great.
And BTW, I love Glen's rig. The next best thing to living in one would be getting buried in your A/S

I have a '66 Alfa Romeo Spider that I've owned for over 30 years. Through multiple relationships and friendships, it's been the most constant thing in my life.
I keep telling folks that I'll someday be buried in this car. Only problem is, some of my friends would dig me up, dump the body, and keep the car!

Boats13 - that line reminded me of an old joke my dad told, where the hearse is going uphill and the door opens, the casket slides out and enters a drugstore, where the lid pops up and the guy sits up to ask "Got anything to stop this coffin?"

McNeon- I had an Alfa spyder- 67 when I lived in Nashville, and brought it down here to Atl. It unfortuantely needed evrything done, so I sold it and bought my 911sc. Had that for 14 yrs now.
I almost sold it recently , but could not bring myself to do it. Its like a reliable old pal.
