Hi Herman, Bella is still in the US at the moment as this is just a short trip to visit family for Christmas.

Unfortunately our family live in the extreme south east of the UK (near the city of Canterbury) so some 270 miles (in a straight line and more by road) from Newcastle

Actually you can just see on the map that we are closer to your home in Hilden than Newcastle, so when we have Bella in the the UK we must meet up!

Hmmm.....the shop normally opens at 8am on Saturday but so far no-one is answering the phone; maybe they are staying closed for the holidays until Monday. That's a pain as I am back to Europe tomorrow night, and wont get an update until I get back on Thursday.

That's gotta hurt

Considering it's after 5pm I'm guessing you never got in touch with the shop....

The shop was definitely closed all day (they normally do 8-2 on Saturdays), but it isn't really a big deal. I was more trying to find out if they had manage to swap the steering pump or if Bella was still in the queue awaiting work

I'll be back in a few days so hopefully she will be all done by then.

The mechanic warned me the the brakes were 'much better', but WOW!

Bearing in mind nothing has been upgraded (still original disc/drums JB8 configuration) just made to work properly, the difference is amazing. Bella can now stop on a dime, and with the new/uprated suspension and steering is like driving a new van.....apart from the bangs and rattles!

Super! I bet it's a nice feeling to have finally found a good service shop

So Martin, what all did the new shop do to get the brakes up to par. I remember the mess the last shop left you with.

Yes Mike, I'm very happy....although my pockets are considerably lighter, 48hrs labor alone.

48 hours? Ouch!

But worth it when you know the work was done right.

That also covered all the work to remove, repair and remount the tank, Brad. Which also meant included the work to rebuild the straps and modify the body work to allow for the (slight) change in tank position.

Right, I forgot about all of the fuel tank work you had to have done.

What did you end up doing for a fuel tank sending unit?

At the moment I have left the original sender in place, but because of the extra depth of the custom tank means it will show empty when there is still approx 2in of fuel left in the tank..... I don't think is a bad thing until I get a better idea of mpg.

I did get the inlet pump and strainer for the alternate sender but decided that is a task for another day!
