We are planning on attending on Saturday, as usual.

Do you put your AS in the show? If not where do you camp at? Any good spots?

We are definitely attending the whole event. I am a big fan of modernism in all respects, and have been enjoying the architecture since we move here (Cathedral City). I am really looking forward to this event. Never attended before.

We're also thinking of going and would love any recommendations for campgrounds. I only found one that seems to be close to downtown and that one got mixed reviews.

Ideas anyone? Bueller.....Bueller.....

The 1954 is not presentation ready and no one is interested in the 1979, too young. We just drive out for the day.

mstephens - You live in Cathedral City but never stopped in for modernism week??? It is cool. We went last year but we did not own a trailer then so I am even more excited this year. It is cool to hear that there are some other folks going. It would be cool if we could get together a small informal rally... Have you ever been to any campgrounds or parks in the area?

Found the Happy Traveler on Yelp. Might be a cool spot. Another Airstreamer gave it a high rating....

THEY ARE FULLY BOOKED FOR THAT WEEKEND

UPDATE: Although they were full when I originally contacted them, they contacted me just a few hours later a gave me a spot. This place has a good location and decent reviews on Yelp so we booked. If you are looking for a place give them a ring and get on the waiting list. Something will most likely come up...

I just made reservation at Happy Traveller for Feb 17-Feb 20. Those were his only dates available. Nice guy on the phone, by the way.

I'm looking at other RV parks as well, but none of them are right in PS. I'd prefer to not have to drive into town every day, but I'd also prefer to go Feb 20-23.

If any of you have been to Modernism Week, do you have an opinion of how important it is to stay right close to downtown?

Lucky you!! I did tell him to call me if something opens up for that weekend. Crossing my fingers!

Yeah I got lucky! I have only been to Palm Spring a few times and only once to Modernism Week. I feel like the advantage is being able to walk from the trailer to the town for coffee, dinner, drinks without having to drive. Hope to see you there!

That's how I think as well. Love to roadtrip, but HATE to drive little piddly distances!!! Will let you know if I luck out.

Have wanted to check out Modernism week for a while now. In our Interstate are an architect, a retired commercial photographer, and 2 four-leggeds with good design taste. We are meant to be there!!

That is good to hear. We have a Designer/Animator/Director and an Interior Architect/Designer so it is right up our alley as well. The pups only care about food though...

We only just moved here in June. We have stayed in two parks in this area. The best one was Desert Sands in Indio. Very resort-like. The one down the street from us (On Gerald Ford and Date Palm) is lousy. Just a parking lot. There is a 1000 Trails park in Palm Desert that looks nice. There is a VERY POSH RV resort around the corner from us on Ramon. They might be "motor home only" I am not sure. There's another posh place in Palm Springs. Not sure of all the names unless I look them up.

Let me know if you need more info.

Crabbey1...

I believe that, when brought up around good design, dogs will gravitate towards good design. Here are two design tests to do with your dogs...

#1....Place an ugly dog bed at one end of the living room...put a cool looking dog bed at the other end....watch which one they go to.

#2....Let your dog wear an ugly dog collar one day, and a cool looking one the next day. Pay close attention to changes in attitude and behavior...in particular, signs of lower self-esteem while wearing the ugly collar.

Report back to me.
