Do you have tp pay in full to reserve a spot? Rob is getting over surgery and we can't afford to make a reservation yet. Dying to come, though! Thanks very much for b warning about the underpass!

When I reserved our camp site, they didn't even take a charge card number. I thought that it was unusual, but apparently you just pay when you register at the campground office upon arrival.Did anyone have a different experience when reserving a site?
Also, just another reminder to make a Tag, for your windshield, with your FORUM name on it, to get in the main park entrance gate free.
Also make Tour of Trailers signs, for your site # post and your trailer window.
Hope you will be showing your unique Bunkhouse to everyone, so get that reservation made!

I had to pay for one night as a deposit when I made my reservations

Yes when you call in you need to pay a one night deposit to reserve your spot. Entrance into the park is free for the rally. Making a sign sounds like a good idea for the windshield.

German Restaurant Follow-up

The "low bridge" that Kristi is referring to may be the railroad bridge that is just down the street from the restaurant. You can almost throw a baseball and hit it, literally. I've actually seen RV pieces lying about under that RR trestle.

Kristi put in the correct link for the restaurant, but here it is again:
The Village Corner German Restaurant and Bakery Chris and I particularly like the German sausage plate for two - we had it last week. We live in Stone Mountain and probably go there at least once a month for dinner and Chris eats there more often and has a pretzel sandwich for lunch when he rides his bike in Stone Mountain park. We can plan to meet around the pavillion area at 6:30 and then caravan over to the restaurant.
Jim commented that there may not be much parking, but that's not the case. There is at least 10 spots in front of the restaurant and then 4-5 more on the side of the restaurant. Also, there is a strip shopping center just 1/2 block away which has more parking if needed. Since I would expect there are not that many folks coming in Thursday, I would think we can carpool as Kristi mentioned and the parking wouldn't be an issue anyway. Plus, there are lots of parking spots about 3 blocks away in the center of the Village if we needed those.
If you are interested in joining us, let me know (Beth - Kayakampers) and I'll begin keeping a list.
Also, Jim commented on the trestle and he is right that it is a block away from the restaurant. You would only encounter this trestle if you come from Memorial Drive into Stone Mountain Village on the way to the park. As he and Kristi both said, coming on Highway 78 and following the park signs is the BEST way with any kind of RV or trailer.
It's going to be fun!!!
Beth

I would love a good German dinner. Our only German restaurant closed a few years ago after the owner’s wife died. She was the head cook and brains behind the whole operation. Without her the place just could not survive. I will be arriving early in the day on Thursday so count me in.

Stone Mountain final details
I will be bringing thermal disposable cups for the coffee and cocoa. Do we have any other volunteers to bring divided disposable plates/bowls/napkins/plastic silverware, to use at the gatherings for folks who forget to bring their own?

Kristi: we will bring some disposable eating ware. For the Friday night social I assume we should all bring a finger food item to share.

We've Just Reserved #142
The Kaes Clan plans to attend.
We don't get out much these days, but we like Stone Mountain and it's not far from home.
We've also booked a spot in Hiawassee for the Springstream Rally so we ought to have the camper good and ready by April 27th.
We'll probably bring a couple of musical instruments with us.

Go Ron... Go Ron... instruments good! We may need to pull the plug on Hiawassee (conflicting schedules) so Stone Mountain would be a good place to jam a bit if we can.

We are going to try to get over there a little earlier on Friday, but yes, the not a band is something that does kind of need a quorum...

TAC-GA/Springstream Stone Mt. Rally
Just a friendly reminder that we are at the end of February and March is the last month to make a reservation and take advantage of our negotiated special rates for the rally. If you have an Airstream product or a vintage other brand of trailer we would like to see you there. For those in the Atlanta Metro area, this will be an affordable trip with lots to do once you get there. Really looking forward to seeing everyone all set up.
