WHEW>>>>>>> just gave me another idea for a rally - the FCU International disfunctional family rally- - - - - - - - I LOOOVE IT!

We at the FCU are always looking for fun (and maybe a little bit - even twisted) rallies. Mike I think you hit on another one...

Now we just have to come up with a time/place....

No worries... Here's what you do: Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Post Reply" button. (NOTE: this is not the "quick reply" button...) The Post Reply button will open a new window - scroll down on the new window and click on "Manage Attachments". This will open a smaller window that will allow you to "browse" your hard drive and upload images.

You can also go to FAQ in the upper menu bar to look up "adding attachments". There you will find the following instructions...

"How do I attach a file to a post?
To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'. To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.
On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'. Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments. You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page. Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.
To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file. To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page. Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.
Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window. You can then close the window to return to the new post screen."

I just figured this out after I got back from Qsite on Sunday!

Hope this helps out!

So... let's see some of your snaps!

Mike & Tracy, Bob & Lou, Jim & Min, and of course Jules..... outstanding job in organizing and putting this rally together. Richard and Jan Kudos for the turkeys and of course the Marg ball. As always we had a great time and we met some new folks that we hope to see again around the campfire in just a month!

Sergio and I and Ken and Linda are working out the details of the NYE 3 at Picacho and we look forward to seeing all of you soon!

Funny how I left the rally Sunday, but had a dream that I was having dinner in Quartzsite last night. Oh wait, I was! I'm working all over the Q-Town area this week and had to drop by the 4CU winter home rally to have dinner with my friends.

It looks like I will be spending another night in Parker. Jim and Mike, What's for dinner, I'm buying? I'll give you a call later...

Cuppa coffee in one hand, bloody mary in the other...ah, well, cuts down on smoking...
Richard, prime rib...actually, we were thinkin' stuffed hamburgers...will pick up the burger...I think Jim has the buns(ok, ok...leave it alone)...the rally continues, in its own fashion...WHERE did all you people go??? it will take weeks to recuperate...'bout four, I think...this pace is killin' me...may have to take a nap eating HUGE shrimp, snackin' on PB cookies, wearin' the 'lounge' hat and LOVESTREAM 345LE t-shirt,supervised by the whirling-gut flamingo, and contemplating...well...nothing in particular...the muffins somehow disappeared this morning, and that doesn't include the disappeared mint M&M's...got new-to-me books to read, a box of empty wine bottles for Anita's garden, and the sun on my face...life is GOOD.

Thank you for all of your graciousness at our first 4CU rally and for making us feel right at home! (Unfortunately we stepped on our scale prior to reading about the moratorium.) Thanks again to Richard & Jan, Mike & Tracy and all who planned the rally. We had a great time.

Quartzsite PIcs

Thanks to Michael & Tracy, Jim & Mini, Bob & Lou and Julianne for making sure the Quartzsite TG rally happened smoothly...and getting us all to the right place and avoiding the gully washes!

We had a great time with our old 4CU friends...and the new folks we met, too...a good time was had by all. What a great bunch of Aristreamers!

Here are a few more pics to share...

Pic #1: Flags flying proudly on Richard & Jan G's rig...
Pic #2: Chef Michael D and his luscious grilled brussel sprouts...they were WONDERFUL!
Pic #3: Greg S with Michele C & Carol P...our newest 4CU members...
Pic #4: Richard G and Paul M watching the turkey frier pot with Michael D's grilled portabella mushrooms in the foreground...
Pic #5: TB with the sage dressing coming out of the oven...
Pic #6: Mike B, reigning TTQ, holding court around the camp fire...
Pic #7: Pic of part of Anita's bottle garden in Quartzsite...quite the sight...

Re-mounted Carrier AC Unit...

Roger, Richard:

Thanks to your suggestions, I've got the AC unit re-mounted correctly using African Mohogany supports placed fore/aft and longitudinally left/right. See photos. And you guys are right - I can do a pull-up in the hole supported by the new mount!

Summary of shots:
1. Using the bandsaw to cut the "arc" pieces - once the cardboard template was cut to match the correct overhead arc, I just measured and marked the thickness of the strut ribs (1.75" on my rig)... the mohogany stock is 1.5" thick.
2. AC roof penetration showing aft wooden rib - cutouts for wiring were made on the lower/end portions of the wood ribs.
3. Angled 1/2" hole cut for drain tube on forward wooden rib.
4. Notch for wire bundle and hole for drain tube...
5. Notch for wire bundle on aft rib...
6. View from top looking down into roof penetration...

The side struts were pre-drilled diagonally for 3" wood screws into the fore/aft arced struts for additional rigidity. I used #10 x 1" sheet metal screws at 3" intervals both thru outer and inner skin into the wooden support structure. Solid as heck!

Thanks!

Good, Bad, and Better...

A few last notes...
First...outstanding attendance and friendship!!!...the spirit of involvement is truly an inspiration...LORDY!!!, how I love this unit...
For those of you with free range pets...a little more attention to deposits should be made...some folks don't have pets, but are presented with 'contributions' that are offensive to them...loose is fine, failure to take responsibility is on the line...loose dog? see a pile? pick it up...seems fair, to me...The peeing contests on other peoples' property is amusing to us pet owners, but not those without pets(and some WITH pets...(???), but that is a valid point. I don't know how many deposits in the 'landing zone Jim raked up, but it was substantial...I know I went over there with a couple of wally bags, several latex gloves, and dread in my heart, only to find that he had already taken care of it...THANK YOU, JIM!!!
Q4T3 will, if we are able, occur at the appropriate time...don't have the new calendar, yet, but THANKSGIVING seems about right...my most heartfelt thanks to all attendees for doing what they did, EXACTLY how they did it, and in the manner of a typical 4CU rally...we're really lucky, y'know...? m

Michael & Jim...thanks for scooping up errant droppings left behind...and thanks for the reminder to be more mindful.

We keep a plastic bag in our back pockets for such "discoveries" when we camp (even in the "wild") because we don't want dog owners getting a bad rep ... Somehow we always manage to pick up more "presents" than our two Girls deposit.

Nobody—even dog owners—likes stepping in a surprise. It's the fastest way on earth to make pets unwelcome in a park.

it is the old camping adage related to the poop issue-leave no trace. i will submit my resume to run the poop patrol every time wwe attend a rally. sometimes the little darlings do do their doodoo out of eyesight or we are inattentive. poo patrol is a good job. improves the camping environment for all and nobody dog owner or pup gets a bad rap. now the peeing thing is out of my scope. camp on
