Cool! 33% of Capacity for the 2006 Region One Rally
Just got an email today from one of the hosts for the 2006 Region 1 Rally, per the number of paid registrations they have received to date we are at 33% capacity! The circle parking area is filling up quickly! Leon and I signed up wicked early and will be parked in the inner cirlce, close to the nightly activities and campfire. We are searching for a 22' Argosy to restore, if we find and purchase it before the Region 1 Rally we will reserve a spot for it too (hopefully in the circle parking area, for the big vintage day events).

Things are heating up with the weather along with reservations for next year's Region One. Too bad the weather won't last and neither will the spots in the circle. I'm happy to say that we will most likely be bringing a new member to the Region One. Our son is the new owner of a 1977 20' Argosy MoHo and will be joining us all up at the rally as long as there are no schedule conflicts. He will be graduating from college this Spring and is planning a cross country road trip with his high school buddy. (Oh to be young again)
Merry Christmas Everybody, see you down the road

A 20' Argosy MoHo! How very cool. Looking forward to seeing it at one of our rallys in 2006.

You must be bringing an extra generator just to power up the Aligator!
We will be bringing our Honda 2000 just in case all the lights blow a fuse at the rally site.
The Alligator will be just one of the focal items, I'm going for a "Jimmy Buffet Tiki Bar" look. And to think I already own most of the tacky stuff I will need for this display...

We need themes???? I thought we was doin a 70's thing???? And well of course Flamingo's[/quote]
It's up to each Airstream owner to decide what they would like to do in regards to lighting. Some folks will do simple, others will go "over the top". I'm going for tacky, think I'm on the right track so far...

Anyone interested in participating in the Tin Chef Cook-Off needs to contact their Unit President for more information. There will be one team from each Region One Unit competing. It will be a really fun event based loosely on the Iron Chef with prizes for participants and attendies alike. It's scheduled to take place before the Vintage Open House. If anyone is interested in participating they can go to this site for more info http://www.wbcci1.org/ne/2006AlumiNa...incanchef.html

Not that I want everyone to know exactly what our lighting display for the contest will include I've got to share this: I've dug up a color wheel (you know, the light with a spinning three color wheel in front of it that folks used in the 60s to highlight their aluminum Christmas trees). I'm thinking I can accent an area of the exterior of our Excella with it's changing colors.

Balgrn I forgot that you weren't in attendance at last year's "Scout Out" Rally.
We did a trial run of the "Grand Illumination" contest and stroll. Most attendees decorated their Airstream's with lights. None of the lights were turned on until "Wally Byam's bell" rang at exactly 9:00pm and then it was magic! With the circle parking arrangement folks walked/strolled the camping area road(s) and viewed the lights. Some folks had music playing that matched their lighting theme. It was beautiful! And at the Region One Rally this year it will be at a much grander scale. I'm really looking forward to it.
Before the lighting we shared a pot luck dinner and then gathered around a giant campfire, telling stories and singing songs. It was really wonderful.

I am working on a songbook for the evening sing-a-longs. Is there anyone who would like to help? PM me and we can work on a song list. Also is there anyone else coming who plays guitar or anything else who wants to play along at night?

DEO, count me in! Being one of your backup singers (after 2+ glasses of wine) make me wicked talented in this area. We should sign up Gail too, this girl has talent even if she is has not been drinking.
