Jim, you could stay in one of the electrical loops for a few days before we have the site. I will call the park to see if they would let you stay there in the group area prior to our reservation

The Group area where we will be having the rally is available on the 30th. You could stay in one of the other camping loops and move to the group area for the rally.
There are many great parks in the Phoenix area.. Lake pleasant, McDowell Mtn park, Lost Dutchman SP, plus a ton of RV resorts.
In Tucson, you may want to look at Catalina SP, and Gilbert Ray in Sahuaro NP
I'm sure others will add to my suggestions
Looking forward to meeting you

Not if you live in Flagstaff. I just love messing around with the pink stuff each time we take the trailer out in the winter.

Flagstaff is one of the very few places I had to put chains on my van when we were passing through--just to get out of the parking lot where we stayed! When we got there, we had fog composed of ice crystals and the front of the van was covered in 1/2 inch of solid ice that did not melt until we were well down the hill.
Beautiful city in the snow, but very difficult to drive in while towing a car...
Yep, it gets very cold there...

Picacho Update
Latest tally is 42 rigs, 78 people this year, looks like we are definitely going to beat our record.
Some information to keep in mind as you arrive:
Below is an aerial view of the Quail Group Area the entrance to the loop is to the right and you go around the loop counter clockwise. As you enter the first of the 10 parking areas is the host site and a Handicapped site. We will be parked in the host site, and we try to keep that first pad open for those who may need a handicapped parking spot. We also leave a spot open for loading and unloading firewood.
We have 42 rigs coming so at this point so we will not be able to spread out as much this year. We will need to get 4-5 rigs into each parking area.
Please be sure to let me know if there are any questions or further information needed.

Gett'n there early, too...
Louis - thanks for all the useful info and prep-work, very helpful for sure.
We're planning on arriving on the 29th with the Strauss' - please advise if there's anything we can do to help out in advance of the main group showing up...
Cheers,
Art

Have a question? Who would like to fit in some tamale making this year. Not on the scale of last year, but enough for a pot luck? Putting out a feeler to see if it is doable.

really miss you guys
we really remember the great time we had….0n one of our earliest airstream "full-timer trips…New Years Eve 2009…we attended the rally for the first time….
and it was such a great trip and made it again in 2010…and and since traveled a 100,000 miles or more sold the first airstream…bought a house and sold it…bought another airstream and drawn like a magnet to the pacific northwest and Orcas Island….
came here to buy a house and got one under contract…... …great christmas present….
we'll have to plan a rally on the island……there is west beach resort that could accommodate a dozen or so……
it would be great…could tour the island and explore mount constitution……
the island taxi service

If you want to lead a tamale-making venture ... we will sure EAT them! :-) Sounds great ... I hope you go for it! Those tamales last year were the best tamales we've ever had ... and we've had our fair share of tamales!
Can't wait to see you two!

We just unpacked from 4 days at White Tanks west of PHX. It's going to be a nice place for March Madness! Checked out the group area - Boy! is it big! Many nice hiking trails and clean bathrooms - kudos to Maricopa Parks! Also, a very nice public building just at the entrance with snakes and stuff AND a library!
And...REPACKING for next week! This is going to be one heck of a time at Picacho!!!
Yes, Sewbusy - we can do it all!!!!
Hey, as I'm prepping a shopping list for NYE, do I see that it's 2 happy hours (snacks) and 1 pot luck? Please confirm!
Thanks and SEE YOU ALL SOON!!!

Greetings all,
We wish we could be there this year but no matter how we juggle everything, it just isn't in the cards. Sorry to miss it this time. We'll return the wonderful white-elephent gift another time. Have fun.
