4CU Rock-n-Ritas Rally
The Four Corners Unit announces a new rally with a twist — a Southern New Mexico “progressive” rally 20-24 September, 2014!
We will convene at City of Rocks State Park, North of Deming, NM, for two nights and then caravan south to Pancho Villa State Park in Columbus, NM, near the Mexico border for an additional two night stay. There will be an optional walk-over-the border lunch at The Pink Store, in Las Palomas, Chihauhua, MX, and their famous Margaritas (while you shop)!
City of Rocks features an unexpected and fascinating volcanic geological formation with easy hiking, spectacular sunsets and dark skies for star gazing at the park observatory. Pancho Villa State Park includes an exhibit hall and historic structures capturing the history of the 1916 Pancho Villa Raid on Fort Furlong.
Please visit the rally page for more information and to sign up, and check back here for future posts ad details get firmed up....
We hope you can make it!

Oops...those dates should be 20-24 September (didn't catch that soon enough to edit it in the original post) ... also early arrivals can get there on the 19th.

The Region 11 rally is both a rally and business meeting for Region 11. I have not seen a schedule for that rally but it will probably be a bit more organized and formal than a 4CU rally.

Registration Deadline Approaching.
September 12th is the registration deadline for the Rocks-n-Ritas rally. We need to have your registration form and rally fee payment by that date so we have a firm headcount and know how much food and supplies to purchase.
There are spaces available at the time of this posting.

Post-Rally Wrap
Despite tow vehicle issues for a few attendees (they both now have new trucks!) ... and heavy rain at Pancho Villa State Park creating big messy mud hole for our arrival there by caravan for the 2nd leg ... in true 4CU spirit and determination to have a great time, our little gang of happy campers managed to come away smiling and satisfied.
Everyone was charmed and delighted the unexpected beauty of City of Rocks State Park ... and — once we conquered the mud — Pancho Villa was good, too ... complete with a trip to Mexico for lunch and margaritas, our spaghetti dinner and "comfort food" potluck. Thanks everyone for coming and pitching in ... your presence made it all work!

Pic #9: The sun came out and we found sites on higher ground at Pancho Villa...this was the DRIER area! It was interesting watching 12 Airstreams doing donuts in the mud...
