The Airstream's Club Ramp Festival Rally

In the spirit of spontaneity I thought I would put out the word about a gathering of the Airstreamer's Club April 16, 17, 18. The location is Mason Dixon Park in Mount Morris PA. This rally will be held in conjunction with their Ramp Festival. If you do not know what ramps are, well that is of no surprise. They grow only in Appalachia and can be harvested for only a few weeks a year. These are a serious mountain delicacy and this festival is the perfect excuse for a gathering. The Serro Scotty Club is also holding a rally and we will be combining forces in an effort to show how dead serious we are about having fun.
Now for the fine print.... This will be a boon docking event. There is water that you can fill your tank with upon arrival and then refill with jugs. I think generators can be used with the proper consideration of others. We will be kind of on display during the day. You can always lock your door if you do not want company. Nothing formal is planned. You just pitch in where and when you want. A campfire will be held every night. If you come, please know you should kick in a dollar or two for firewood provided by the Scotty Club. I have been told a very nice truck stop is right up the road if a shower is needed.
If you are thinking of coming, please let me know so I can let the Scotty Rally host a head count.

Having lived for several years in Philippi, W.Va, I do indeed know what ramps are. If you eat too many of them, the odor oozes out of your pores, kind of like garlic---but not an unpleasant smell, if you like ramps.

Wish we could come, will be doing family things that weekend. Have a great time and have a few for us.

Maggie

Aargh! We're actually going to be half an hour away from there that weekend - but we're doing family stuff...and I even knew what a ramp was (thanks Euell Gibbons!)

Frank,

Sounds like an awesome time -- but we can't make it this time. Take some pictures and have a great time.

See you in a few weeks!

Is a little boon docking scaring people?

I spoke to the Scotty group host and he spoke to the festival coordinator and she said that they would love to have some Airstreamer's show up and be a part of things. I hope a few of you might use this excuse to come camp with us.

Sounds like you and the family should go for a little drive and join the festivities. Ramps are only dug for three weeks of the year. Come on out and experience a true mountain delicacy...

Cool We Will be There!

Hey Frank,

My family and I will be there showing our support for TAC at the 2010 Ramp Festival. We will have our 66 Caraval cleaned and ready to show. We are planing on arriving Friday around 6pm. We have been there before and I know you will love seeing all the vintage cars, tractors and other stuff; like ramp wine, deep fried ramps and ramp soup. I'm hoping to bring home some live ramps to plant them in my yard. I'm not sure if you mentioned the best part. It's All Free! No fee for camping or festival admission. Even vending tables are free. So everyone has no reason not to make it!

Ace in PA

TAC PA-1 and very proud of it!

This almost worked for us, but we have to be home for the weekend; otherwise it would have been a short hop from Shenandoah. Thanks for trying.

I'd like to go to that! It would be Friday evening at the earliest, probably. Don't know if I'll bring my Scotty or my Airstream .....
