I was thinking that maybe we would start cooking at about 5 p.m. if we are going to have a campfire to cook over. What does everyone think about supper at 6ish?? Chime in here please.

What time does everyone think they are going to get in? We are not going to be able to leave till 5:00pm and it's about two hours for us.

Our reservation confirmation card says that check in time is 15:00! LOL
Don't know if they really care if you get there earlier or not. We are only about a 20 min. drive from there. We were considering getting there earlier. How about the rest of you?

I have to work and by the time I get home and change and get moving it will probably be around 3:30 or 4:00 before we get there. I'm going to bring nacho dip and pasta salad and some chicken. Bob's off. so that will simplify a lot. Jayne

I'm gonna have to get the smoker going early to eat Saturday eve. It takes about 6 hours to smoke a couple racks of ribs, or a roast, etc. and about 3 hours for chicken pieces. Nice thing is, it's not hard work once the fire is going good! I haven't been up to the butcher shop yet, but will on Thursday. We will likely arrive between 6 and 7. See ya'll then!

Hey Dave, shall I bring chickens for us? We'd love to have smoked chicken?
What kind is the best to buy for that? Whole ones?? Never having smoked, you have to let me know!!LOL Can't wait to see how it goes!

Bob (of Bob and Jayne) PM'd me yesterday and offered to bring 10 or 15 lbs. of chicken parts. I have no idea how much we would need, but I'd think that would be plenty. However, as I told Bob, if you have a favorite BBq sauce you'll have to bring your own as I only use a little Trail Dust (a rub) on the meat and just let the slow cooking and hickory smoke add the flavor. I plan on hitting the butcher shop later in the week for a couple big racks of ribs and maybe a small roast. --dave

Sounds like this is going to be a lot of fun! never been to any airstream gatherings so I don't know what to expect. Is their anything I can bring to contribute? Rochesterian on the way.

Wow!! Coming to our rally all the way from NY? Or are you traveling through our area? We love it!!! You will have a good time. Make sure to let us know what site you are on when you call the park for your spot.

We generally have a big potluck on Sat. evening. Everyone just pitches in a big dish to share and we push a bunch of picnic tables together or eat around the ol' campfire! The last time this gang got together at Alum Creek, we did a lot of campfire cooking together, and it kind of grew for each meal. We even did a breakfast....kind of like stone soup. Everyone added and shared stuff. Larry did pancakes, Dave did a great omelette and we all gave ingredients. The campfire seemed to bring us all together. We did LOTS of eating!
We are very informal and laid back. So far no planned activities. But that could change if somebody gets a good idea. We usually find the time to do a little open house so that we can see everybody else's AS. Quite a bunch of great looking "homes".

I saw on an earlier post that you said that you would like to go to JC while in Ohio. Findley SP is only a 2.5-3 hr. trip. So maybe you can get that on the way around OH. There are lots of great places to camp around OH!

Larry and I have one daugher, Loren. She is 28 yrs. old. She will be looking after the elders for us while we are at the rally! Kids are welcome. They will like the park. Lots of water around.

I have a few friends that now call Ohio home. I like to travel around while I'm down there. thought this would be great oppurtunity to see what streaming is all about! I usually use my globetrotter when I go to fleamarkets. once in a while I do a little camping. Maybe I can bring a rochester favorite "Genny Light". But then I don't want to make any enemies. Haven't made it to the mothership yet (jackson center).

I reserved 184 today. I saw that someone posted it is unlevel, but I've learned to live with dissapointment. No kids flying solo.
