We plan to camp the next two weekends to tune the 75 Ambassador up, and get her ready for the rally!

We have squirt guns and some craft items for the kids, and the ones who act like them (I'm looking at you Suz!). Our caravan of Sugarfoot, My1stStream, and Medic Clan should arrive early to mid afternoon on the 13th. Anyone for the trip to 17th Street Grill in Marion that evening, or maybe lunch on Friday? We will provide some Silver Joe's Kona blend coffee in the mornings, and doughnuts from Whittington on Saturday.

Brian and I have been working really hard to try and get the 53 flying cloud ready for the rally, but unfortunately it isn't going to happen. The door is being rebuilt right now, and we cannot buck rivet the exterior until I get the tools back from Oh2becarefree. All in due time.

Steve

I have another reservation placed on the map. There are two people registered that are not reflected at the time being, so more on that later.

My inlaws are bringing their newly acquired 63 Safari so that everyone can see a before of it. They have been gutting it over the past month and have plans to remodel. I thought it would be neat for people to look at. It was sitting in a field for the past 10 years with many campers, only none were human. Don't worry, my inlaws are staying with us, but their camper will be available to view on Saturday for the tour. Looking forward to a great weekend!

Nice to know that they will be staying in your trailer, and not with the dozens of campers from the field it used to sit in. Do you want me to inquire to see if you can get a better rate seeing that you wont be using the electric, water, or sewer?

Whittington looks great! Joan and I stopped in today on the way home from Paducah to say hi. Reed and Mary have a nice new mobile home across from the office. The grass is really thick and green. Can't wait till May.

Great!!!! That is What my husband Jack and I did with our 76'. We took it to Rallies at every stage. The 1st Rally it was gutted and we slept on the floor on a mattress. I'm glad you they are not waiting until it's finished to camp. The input you get from rally members each time about the improvements and you progress are inspiring!!!

Dutch Oven Cooking.

I have seen it growing increasingly popular to cook with a dutch oven while camping(Especially at rally events), but I have never tried it personally. I believe that Amy and I bought the wrong kind of dutch oven several years ago while at Bass Pro Shop. Our oven does not have the recessed lid that you can place coats on, or the feet to stack it on coats. I believe it is more for stovetop use. We need a camping oven I suppose.

I am interested in seeing exactly how to use a dutch oven properly since we have never used one before.

Steve,

I too would like to learn how to use a dutch oven. I want to buy one so very badly but don't know how to use it. If I could learn how to use it I could justify the purchase of one and all the needed accessaries. And, it has to have the legs and the recessed lid. I have a green one that we received as a wedding gift that has no place near a campfire.

I still have to figure out what I want to bring for the potlucks. I was thinking maybe hamloaf. And, maybe 7 layed Jello. We'll see.

Dutch Oven cooking

We will gladly share with you what we know, which is pretty basic.

You can cook anything in a Dutch Oven (must have legs and a recessed lid) that you can bake in your oven or even cook on top of the stove. We got into DOC because our cute little (operative word, little) Interstate does not have an oven, and sometimes you just need to bake.

You can pick up Lodge Dutch Ovens at any sporting goods store, and even WalMart. There are some good threads here on the Forums and also cookbooks particular to this style of cooking. It is so fun, too!

Wow, this rally is less than 3 weeks away. Time flies when you're Airstreaming. Can't wait to see y'all again, and meet new friends.

I'm up for walking the dogs, BBQ (yes, even vegetarians can appreciate one), Dutch oven cooking, or anything else.
But she looks so angelic.

No cats--I'm very much a dog person.
