so i amon my way to rend lake

house sold, money in the bank....on the way to this rally
we headed east, bound for the escapees livingston, tx hdq to spend the night and check on our mail...we have joined the escapees mail service and will keep our domicile in texas for the forseable future. skp parks and people are great

our next stop was zavalla, tx ..lake sam rayburn and toledo bend...and spent two nights at the texas airstream harbor , north of zavalla...a beautiful place, serene and peaceful nestled in the woods and lakeside...

then we have just arrived at lake palestine...a lake side resort, so called, in frankston, tx...a woodalls rated park that has seen better days...resort wise but serves now as a whoop ass fishing camp...and charges 45 per nite (ouch) for waterfront parking...but it is easter weekend and all the freak parade is out in full gala and so it goes

we will leave here tuesday headed for charleston arkansas for a few days on the road to rend lake

Good to see you'll be joining us for the rally Cory. What day are you arriving?

I am in line for my car rental in Orlando, but I will update the map once I get home. I will also start to post sign ups for our potluck meals.

So far we have three children attending that I know of (mine, and 2 from my1ststream). Hopefully we will ad a few more before the rally.

Someone suggested a progressive happy hour during open house where you tour the coaches together, and serve a drink (non alcoholic is fine). I will guage interest from the group on that for Saturday. Of course, we can always do it the old fashioned way too.

Steve

Thanks Steve,

We should arrive Friday night...will leave after work(hopefully leave work a little early). Looking forward to it.

That reminds me, I have to start thinking of a potluck dish. And, a happy hour sounds great.

How many folks are bringing dogs? My 'Lucy' wants to know.

Peter could come if he ever learns how to not run off when he gets loose. I'm not holding out much hope now since he is 10 years old and still hasn't figured it out.

Trust me, he would find a way to escape. We should have named him Houdini.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Sometimes it gets kind of confusing when we just do a free-for-all tour. I think we miss some, and we don't get to talk to everybody because they are our touring somebody else's trailer.

I think a progressive happy hour/open house is a great idea. Drinks and little snacks, maybe? Would be great fun.

AIR Midwest Midwest Rally at Rend Lake, IL 2010

Greetings All!

My Chihuahua co-pilots will be traveling with me - - for the first time in several years, both dogs will be traveling this season. The photo below was taken about five years ago now - - it doesn't seem possible - - -

Their appearance hasn't changed much - - other than both have quite a bit of gray fur now. . . . Precious, the little female is actually about 6 ounces smaller now than she was in this photo - - only 2 pounds 4 ounces. Little Bear has become even huskier since this photo he is now almost 4 pounds heavier at 7 pounds 12 ounces. The last time both dogs traveled with me, they were taking daily swims in the Overlander's bathtub to escape the heat at the WBCCI International Rally in Rapid City, SD.

Bear is probably happy he is back on the road. Some dogs are good travelers. Some are not. We did take Peter to our friends house one weekend a few years ago. Found out he does not like 2 hour car rides! Poor boy almost turned green instead of yellow.
