Saltydogs:
Thanks for the encouragement. Hope to see you as well. We know that Canopener will be a great way for everyone who attends to begin a new year of adventure with new and old friends.

We are counting down the days also, and watching the weather forecast for next weekend, may have to depart a little early to miss some snow. Sissel and Sophia are ready for some warm weather (4 yr. and 18 month old Mini-Schnauzer's), looks like there will be many new friends for all of us to meet.
We will bring the following:
Thurs.
summer sausage, cheese and cracker platter
Sat.
fruit kabobs w/creamcheese-marshmellow dip
Sun.
steelcut oatmeal w/toppings

Americana Under the Stars
Hope this finds you all enjoying your Christmas Holidays and that Santa was as gracious with you as he was with the Montgomery family.
As we enter final preparations for Canopener, I will be sending out several general information posts so please be watching for them.
By previous post, I advised you the entertainer for the "Americana Under the Stars" event at 6PM Thursday evening is Brian Smalley. I understand he is quite good and should be a great fit for our group.
Here is a link to Brian's website where you can get a taste for his music and see videos of his performances:
Brian Smalley Music, Lyrics, Songs, and Videos
Remember, this event is open to the public and will be at either the clubhouse or amphitheater depending on weather.
We will need to be finished with our chili and dessert potluck by that time and have cleaned up our location so we do not interfere with Brian's performance.

Cornhole Tournament
What: Cynthia Thoede Memorial Cornhole Tournament
When: Friday, January 9 at noon
Where: Signup and tournament in front of site 156 on Wild Oak Lane
Entry Cost: $5
This year we are dedicating the tournament to Cynthia Thoede, a long-standing member of our Canopener family who passed away suddenly in September. She and her husband Jeff (Forum name Rivetng) were both known as fierce competitors once the old bag of corn started flying. The entry fee this year will be $5/competitor (or whatever amount over $5 you wish to contribute). All proceeds will be donated to the Gadsden Street United Methodist Church Children and Youth Programs, Pensacola, FL in memory of Cynthia’s dedication to the church and youth. Jeff will be attending and you will still have to fight him on the playing field!
In preparation for the tournament, we need additional cornhole boards (at least 2 more sets) and volunteers for judges/scorekeepers (instruction will be provided). Please sign up below if you are playing or can help. Last minute sign-ups at the tournament location are welcome. This is a single elimination tournament.
Rules and information on the game of cornhole are at: Official Rules for Corn Toss, Cornhole, Bean Bag and Bean Toss
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
Players:
1.
Can Bring Cornhole Boards:
1. Luckyducks
2. Rum Runner
3.
Judges/Scorekeepers:

Canopener 2015
Cup holders are yet to be mounted... I changed my mind, and the design, at the last minute.
Tow hitch ain't happening, unless I get some new super legs or something.

Thanks... Been busy welding. Trying to get stuff together for Canopener. This stupid buggy took a bit more time than I thought. Still have some stuff to do on the camper, but I'll ALWAYS have stuff to do on the camper...
Looking forward to meeting everybody. Hate to see so many that are having to back out at the last minute. And, I know we haven't signed up for anything, but count me in for the Cornhole tournament (I expect to get eliminated very quickly), and we will have something for all the potlucks... I don't know what. It's best to leave the cooking to Mrs Red. I didn't get this fat eating my own cooking, that's for sure.
Happy New Year to everyone, see y'all in 8 days...
-Red, super stoked on Canopener...

like everyone else, we are counting down the days to Canopener 2015.
last year we drove north on 95, around Jacksonville then east on 10.
has anyone driven Rte 100 from Flager north-west to Lake City then 10 east? google shows it as one lane each way but only a few small towns
to deal with.
i thought we'd try a different route this time.
there is also rte 40 west from Ormond Beach then north on 75 but it looks like a lot of lights on rte 40.
any thoughts or suggestions? we are taking 2 days to get there so no real rush on the roads. after all, getting there is part of the fun.
thanks
