Getting final details loaded?
Folks,
What a week it's been. Alumaslider getting nearer and nearer but wait what's that "thing" out in the Atlantic? Naw, never turn this away, no can do, whatdoyamean it's coming in near NC SC border!!!!!!! That's a few miles away in the Rand McNally. You know the rest of the story for your area ours was on the outskirts but we still got 10 INCHES of rain.
SHELTER in PLACE! No time to argue, it's over. Only rain, wind gusts and lots of debris. Whew.
Sunday eve, things are for some showing better signs, hey what's going on at Stone Mt?
The entire NC State Park network is CLOSED!
Breathe, breathe.
Even the Parkway is closed.
Horror of horrors.
A few days later, Stone Mt REOPENS
OK, now how to get ready under trying conditions.
BTW Best 1/2 has been watching grandkids parents dealing with worse than us.
Well, here we are truck is filling up, trailer is readyish for launch never know whats forgotten until I need it.
I am so looking forward to the inaugural almost didn't happen we don't know how good it's gonna be ALUMASLIDER at Stone Mt.
Be great to see some folks I know and put handshakes to new forum faces.
I thank all of you for taking time and effort to attend.
Gary n Linda

Trailer is in the driveway since unit rally ending Sunday, repairs and upgrades in work. Not gonna get the lift kit installed this time, but step is fixed, propane regulator changed, Sat dish might be fixed - time will tell, a few upgrades going in.
Ready to roll on Monday, I hope.
Looking forward to some cooler weather and seeing old and new friends.
Al

AlumaSlider Get-together
Lot's of packing going on here...think we've got everything we need. Wendy is busy baking in the kitchen tonight...just had to test one of those Chocolate Chip's to make sure they were ok for consumption.
Trying to do a half day at work tomorrow to finish up a few last minute things. The plan is to get on the road around 6pm. We'll see how that works out.
Just looked at weather and looks like some rain for Sunday-Monday and the extended stuff out to Thursday I won't mention.
It's all gonna be fun regardless.

Tom - just drove by your neighborhood a few days ago during our multi-week swing through New England. We took I-84 to I-81 on our way south and stopped in Virginia near Stone Mountain State Park for the night. That campground was almost totally wiped out by flooding from Florence. The ground crew was still working diligently on repairing the sites and getting power restored. I hope their rapid progress means Stone Mountain SP is fully restored and ready for our get together.
Heading back on the road after laundry, a trailer wash, and restocking. See everybody in a few days,
Dave

I am worried! We are in between Don and Al. I've heard they have an ample supply of sheet metal, aluminum, duct tape and rivets. Rumors are they plan to use a sawzall and make a slide on my 34.
Why am I going to a slide rally beats me.

Hello Sliders,
We made it home to New Hampshire early Monday morning.
Thanks to everyone for such a fantastic event! We had a blast!
Here's a couple of quick pic's...what a cool loop we had with 4 Slide's side by side...2 Safari's and 2 Classiic's, and of course Slider Central.
Did anyone ever see that Stone Mountain State Park Wookie???

Fellow Sliders,
I had to take a look back, Alumaslider was announced August, 2017. I thought it would never get here. And just a few weeks ago Florence made her presence known and Alumaslider was questionable.
But things cleared up, Sliders showed up, day trips, hikes, I think there was some food and campfires too. And seeing all of those slides that was darn special. And a few non sliders joined in and a big welcome to all.
I wonder how much AL foil it would take to make a slider out of a flat sider?
Several mentioned what about next year? Stay tuned a few details but I'm pretty sure we can figure something out.
And comments about a spring Alumaslider, if anybody wants to organize one, please feel free to present it. I'm still working and need to schedule things a bit.
I heard quite a few positive comments from folks about Stone Mt. SP NC. Glad folks liked it. We've enjoyed it for several years.
Anybody got a shot of the big skillet making those pancakes?
My thanks to all for attending, participating and sharing the good times.
Now about that Stone Mt. Wokie sighting. I think it was just a cross between a huge raccoon, skunk and a walnut eating squirrel that had indigestion and bellowed uncontrollably.
Looking forward to the next Alumaslider.
Thanks,
Gary

We had a blast as well! Great choice on a park Gary! Enjoyed the hiking and scenery. Also enjoyed Mayberry Days in Mt Airy!
Best of all was meeting all of you! Thanks Tom and Gary (and especially Linda and Wendy) for hosting the meals! Fun time was had by all! Let’s do it again next year.
Everyone put your camping hats on and let’s come up with some options.
Don & Betsy

AlumaSlider - Pancake Breakfast
A couple of photo's from the Slider Pancake Breakfast...
Just a little cast iron to bring those cakes to life and how about a little bacon and coffee to put it all together, well maybe some real homemade NH Maple Syrup...

Yup Tom on coffee duty and making turkey bacon that didn’t get confiscated at the N.C. border. Wayne twisting over 4 lbs of pig candy and your flapjack flipper in coast mode waiting for “the moment”.
That’s what makes it special.
Now we gotta get Linda to make her bean soup in a big Dutch oven over coals.
I’m hungry.

Just who you calling old!
Don is pretty sensitive about his senior geriatric status. Betsy still thinks he’s well under 40 don’t ya know.
I still gotta unload the truck.
