Slide-out no slide
after about twenty minutes of trouble-shooting voltage and continuity... discovered why the locking paddles would retract, but the slide would not extend-- inside the locking paddle compartment (in my case the front paddle) is a safety switch that keeps one from retracting the slide if the paddles have been accidentally extended (as OM suggests from 'wandering fingers'-- he he)
the compartment is weatherstripped, but somehow some water got in there and corroded one of the wires to the switch, to the point of shorting it... (I would have caught it right off the bat, but the wire appeared to be connected... it was only after tapping, did it drop away)
my RV toolkit now has a soldering iron/flux/solder...
