Alumabama & Farewell to Airstreaming

I write this post with mixed feelings……really happy that we spent last weekend at a mini Airstream Rally with friends, but somewhat sad that our Airstream Adventures are coming to a close.

During this year’s Canopener, Jenn and I regaled everyone with stories of our October visit to Desoto State Park in Alabama. We mentioned that we planned to revisit in May, and before long we had over a dozen Airstreams signed up for the trip. And, in spite of my having said that I was finished with organizing events, we soon had a blog setup…..complete with logo and event schedule. However, a funny thing happened in April……we sold our Airstream! Of course we weren’t going to let a little thing, like not having an Airstream, prevent us from partying with our friends…….so, we reserved a room in the lodge. If we needed a memorable event to end our Airstream Adventures……this was it! What a wonderful three days with some really fantastic people! We had a great time, as you can see in the linked video (even with some portions censored). DISCLAIMER: No kids or animals were harmed in the making of the video, as there were no kids under the age of 40, and Rico could never be referred to as an “animal.”

Folks, it’s been a great run these past four plus years. We traveled over 26,000 miles and spent 170 nights in our Airstream. Along the way we made some really good friends, that we hope to stay in touch with. It was rewarding to host the past two Canopener Rallies, and we plan to attend next year as a guest……after all, it’s only 25 miles away. But, it’s time to move on to other interests…..for reasons only understood by us.

We wish each and everyone in the Airstream Community the very best and hope to see you somewhere down the road.

Enjoy the video!

Ron & Jenn

Wow! My hat is off to you. It was wonderful meeting everyone in our favorite park. I hope that wherever the roads lead you, you will find lots of sunshine and level sites. Figuratively speaking!

We, too, sold our beloved Belle two months ago. And here I am, surfing the forum...old habits never die.
Best of luck to you and MzChief. We hope to run into you both on your new adventures.
I really miss our Belle, she is now owned and cared for by a wonderful couple from Ohio. They tow her with a new cherry red Dodge Charger! Can't miss her if you see her on the road!
Best of luck...

Chief,

Sad to see you go, but your reasons are no doubt worth it to you and your wife.

Safe travels down the road.

Chief, nice job on the video, as usual. Although this was not organized as a farewell to Airstreaming, its fitting that you went out around friends. We will miss you and Jenn but are confident you will show up from time to time, video camera in hand with a plan to have fun.

Aw, don't go! We will still love you, even without an Airstream!

Saw several folks I know and looks like everyone had a grand time. Wish we could have been there, but had another place we had to be. DeSoto is pretty, especially when the roddy's are blooming. Hope you got to see some.

Stop on back in here from time to time!

Wishing you and Jenn success in all of your future endeavors.

Thanks for the hard work you've put into organizing and leading Canopener Rallies (Alumabama too). They were outstanding and we had fun!

I won't say goodbye because we'll still see you around.
